here are some non-harmful ideas:
- cutting a cake
- using a confetti popper
- popping a small balloon
- ask someone to read it aloud
- opening an envelope that says the gender inside
- make a scavenger hunt and at the end have a paper that has the gender
- make a poster and flip it over to where it says the gender
- make a glitter bomb
- open a box that has a color or letter on the inside
(ALL OF THESE SHOULD BE DONE INSIDE!!)

The worst part about the women who made the gender reveal party idea, is that she made it to celebrate the fact her child lived long along for their gender to be determined, since she has multiple miscarriages before.

Why not just do the gender reveal as a betting thingy? When they think its a girl they have to donate/give diapers, if its a boy then baby care items??

There’s nothing wrong with gender reveals it’s the people doing them someone always wants to top someone else. Just do a safe clean reveal. Instead of popping a confetti balloon outside do it instead in the kitchen so it can be easily swept up. Or the cake/cupcake/or baked good reveals aren’t bad ether or opening a closet with the baby’s clothes in it. We don’t need smoke ones outside, planes flying over you or a million balloons flying out of a box and flying off

And from what I understand, the blogger who accidentally popularized it only had a gender reveal party in the first place was because she had a history of difficult pregnancies. They were partially celebrating that the baby had come far enough that there even WAS a gender.

So many of these “gender” reveals are just weird to me because it’s basically like “Yeah let’s celebrate whatever societal expectations we’re gonna be putting on our kid”

I’ve personally seen a good few go wrong and yet people still try and be the best gender reveal creators of them all. At this point, if something goes wrong it’s hard to feel bad. These people bring misfortune on themselves all for a few seconds of “surprise” from guests.

i think gender reveals are super cute and a way to get close family and friends together without it being like a baby shower where your being crowded with gifts and extended family. however, this is out of hand — a small cake or a little confetti ballon is enough. even something silly like the wig ones or a egg hunt. so why have to harm wildlife or others for the sake of a gender??? it rlly seems like its not abt the gender anymore and more about views and outdoing others 😭

We cut a cake and had a balloon that said “its a girl” that my parents brought out in the end. We were all so happy:)
