Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., said witnesses testimonies and transcripts of the July call between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky show a quid pro quo. Jeffries said that Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani was the “president’s political bag man” in helping to continue pressuring Ukrainian officials to open “phony investigations” into the president’s political rivals. The White House will give its defense after the House managers have been allowed 24 hours over the course of three days to present their case. The House of Representatives impeached the president in December on two articles -- abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The trial will determine whether Trump is convicted of those charges and removed from office, or acquitted.
