Trump's first impeachment - 2020

Speaking the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., joked that even though Congress cannot agree on much, it should agree to subpoena the Baseball Hall of Fame to figure out who of 397 people voted against inducting former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter into the hall of fame. Jeffries’ comments drew laughter before he turned to a more serious subject. “What’s more American than baseball and apple pie? Perhaps the one thing that falls into that category is the sanctity and continuity of the United States Constitution." House managers have been allowed 24 hours over the course of three days to present their case. The White House will then make its defense. The House of Representatives impeached the president in December on two articles--abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The trial will determine whether Trump is convicted of those charges and removed from office, or acquitted.
