Really like the DIY part of this. Makes me think how much I bought, but it is pretty simple to just build. Great ideas here I am going to add the whiteboard to do list!

It would be really pleasing to watch that old server being cleaned

Your HAL9000 server looks exactly like my Enterasys WS-C25 Wireless Controller! I think it even has the same specs - was this a repurposed one of those? Or just a very similar server?

How you have good ventilation for when those batteries are charging.

How do you use your workstations if they're down there? Are you running video and peripherals all the way up or are you remoting in? Does the latency not drive you nuts?

This is an Epic setup mate, would love to see more in the future. I hate regular boring expensive steel racks lol.

16:12 Uhh, you can't compare the heat of a lighter to the heat of a computer that's on fire. Trust me, that whole thing will go up *easily* and rapidly, it'll go from a computer fire to a house fire in minutes. Educate yourself on house fires. Of course I still agree it's a relatively low risk, but don't kid yourself by comparing a crappy lighter to a large (probably PSU created) fire, they're not even remotely the same thing. I personally would still leave the wood there, but make sure you have a fire alarm in there, and a fire extinguisher (most homes should really have one).

Why do you need all this? Are you selling something? Do you provide internet access for money? Do you own the cloud? Do you lease virtual machines?

Great video my friend. Lots of ideas here I want to steal (LOL). You would make a great Ham Radio operator too, because we are always building battery backup systems to keep our junk going in an emergency. almost 6000 views for this vid and you only have about 150 subs. Maybe you should make more home server vids. Hint hint.

U like Fedora and Arch so much, in my home servers i run Ubuntu Server 18.04 - i have 10 boxes no problem, simply bc debian has more community and when i was doing it i was new to linux, i chose linux bc win server licences are expensive

For the life of me, I can never figure out why folks have server rooms and/or servers to store family images and ripped DVD's... ;)

Your servers are pretty old, and it must consume a lot of electricity.
