The whole plant is actually edible! The natives in Minnesota used to use the fluff for insulation too!

Funnily enough, the entire plant is usable! You can use the stalks to use as fire tinder, you can eat the roots, and the "fur" of the plant can be used for pillos, blanket stuffing, quick insulation, etc. But be warned, they are very uncomfortable to use in a pillow.

I can relate,

At the start of this year one of the girls bought in some flowers for the teacher, about 12 of the flowers were the corn flowers, we had them in the classroom for about 2’weeks until someone accidentally knocked one over, it puffed up a tiny bit and then 2 boys had to go take the plant outside, next thing we know the boys came back with the fluff all over them. we all ran out of the class room to see the whole entire building entrance covered with fluff, it was in the air, I remember then we had art class, we had to walk through the whole thing to get to art, people were having asthma and allergic reactions and hayfever. Then after art we came back and it was recess time. The whole school suffered from these plants. 😩

P.S: The fluff spread around the whole entire school. 👏👏👏
