Pro Mountain Bike racers & riders across all disciplines have top-end bikes, we all know that! However, nowadays you can buy some pretty incredible bikes just off the shelf, so whilst Rich Payne was out at the first round of the EWS in Tweed Valley Scotland, He got to thinking - Are Pro bikes any different to yours or his?

Interesting to see some diversity in the setups. 29 vs. mullet and coil vs. air.
Seems like the actual enduro racing requires quite much more nimble bike than what most manufacturers try to sell as a enduro bike.

Really interesting. The EWS racers seem to take a step back from the slackness race.

really interesting vid, can you continue this at the next round covering some of the other bikes, and also at xc and downhill events as i think it will be quite interesting and also give an inside in who is testing next years products etc?

Loving Noga's livery. Reminds me of my 90's Karakoram.

Focusing on the differences rather than on all the technology at once really makes things both understandable and interesting.

I think one key difference in terms of an off the shelf, top end enduro bike, and one run by a race team, is suspension tuning. They have every aspect of the suspension optimized for them more so than adjusting a few dials, changing the amount or weight of oil in the lowers, and adding or removing volume reducers could do.

So the take-away would be: get the best bike you can afford but put in the time and effort to set it up to work best for you?

Nice to see several of the boys rocking the Rock Shox Zeb, now I feel kinda proud that I have the same front fork lol

I might be wrong but i tend to think the biggest differences in standard bikes vs pro bikes would be seen in UCI Downhill, & freeride comps like DarkFest or Rampage, or in Crankworx Slopestyle.. Still cool to see all the details though..

Looks like the trend to wider bars has truly reversed. Charlie on 740mm.

Let’s get some more detail, rider weight fork and shock set up, flats or clipless, tyres, casings, pressures, pad types etc 👍

Some one needs to show the pro mechanic that’s “all about the details” how to cut a zip tie properly.

I was really intrigued about the single wall rims to be honest, wouldn't mind trying a set of high quality single wall rims myself!

Every one’s putting 180mm discs on the front these days

Meanwhile 90% of us over 80kg we will stick to 200/220 😅
