Tony Robinson and his faithful band of archaeologists risk the dangers of hidden mine shafts in the Derbyshire coalfields to dig into the heart of a building that once dominated the landscape: Codnor Castle. Today it lies in ruins and there's almost nothing known of how it looked in its prime, but as it was home to the De Grey family, it must have once been a very impressive sight.

I grew up 5 minutes down the road from Sutton Hoo, it mystified me as a child. Time Team was one of my favourite programmes, so happy to see the two come together!

I did an excavation right here in the former colonies on one side of the castle (ok, it was more of turning over the soil next to the garage to put in vegetable garden). The artifacts that were found were amazing. Some ancient tools (a Craftsman brand plastic screwdriver handle and the rusty blade of keyhole saw), a Hot Wheels toy car with only one wheel (carbon dated all the way back to 1975) and what appears to be a burial ground for a squad of plastic army soldiers (RIP). Now that's history!

One of the best TV series ever. Always fascinating to watch. Although all of the experts are critical to the success of TT, Tony Robinson is the glue that holds it all together. In my opinion, it would not have been so enjoyable without him.

That pottery expect is one of my favourite returning guests on the show. His knowledge is so impressive, precise details about where it came from and date ranges. He is excellent at advancing the knowledge of site with his expertise. Amazing! What a fantastic episode too. The finds just kept coming.
