“I Can Read People” #psychology.

The “Reading the Mind in the Eyes” test is a psychological tool designed to assess a person’s emotional intelligence, particularly their ability to recognize and interpret the emotions and mental states of others through subtle cues in the eyes. This test involves showing participants photographs of the eye region of different faces and asking them to choose the emotion or thought being expressed from a set of options.

This test is closely linked to research on autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as individuals with ASD often experience challenges in social communication and empathy. People with autism may find it difficult to read and respond to social cues, including facial expressions, which can hinder their ability to engage in typical social interactions.

Studies using the “Reading the Mind in the Eyes” test have found that individuals with ASD generally score lower than neurotypical individuals, highlighting differences in social-cognitive processing. The test provides insights into the specific ways in which autistic individuals perceive and interpret social information, contributing to a better understanding of the social difficulties associated with autism.

6/6 this is easy stuff, just looking at how much tension is in the area surrounding the eyes helps to identify what emotion it would be. The tricky part is learning when those are appropriate and how to display them in a readable way at those times.

6/6 I’m a woman but I’ve had enough friends who are surprised when I tell them I’m not diagnosed with anything that I think I should probably see a doctor. People I know but don’t open up to on the other hand are usually shocked when I tell them I wasn’t always so good at being social. I feel like I’ve spent a lot of time learning how to be normal and react properly so that might be why I’m good at this.

the problem is to people who doesn't speak english as their first language, some of the words almost have similar meanings so it's hard to say between the two.

I got about 4 and I have autism. I heard that part of the test is how quickly you can complete it. Autistic people can guess correctly but it takes them more time.

As a no English native speaker all I know is that I learned a lot of new adjectives today. Thanks for that

6/6 woman diagnosed with ADHD and autism. I've always by nature been observing people to try and learn how to integrate better in society, so this was a pleasant surprise :)

6/6 Trust your gut.
Reading body language, especially eyes has been a life-saving skill.
Before verbal language, we had these cues, hone them. If you struggle with it, definitely practice.
Actions speak a thousand times louder than words.
Diagnosed C-PTSD, been in therapy for two years, starting EMDR soon! Healing's possible. Stay safe ❤

6/6 I'm Autistic and I like observing and copying people, not only their expressions but their mannerisms and characteristics as well. It's how I learn to be more 'normal' and the reason why I can now socialize better.

6/6 as well. I'm a woman. I'm not the best at being social either, yet I pick up on almost every social cue, in real life, or even online. this has gotten to the point where I know what some people are feeling through a screen. I've never been diagnosed with anything. looking for answers, though I've always been like this. using this "skill, " I've saved a handful of friends out of toxic and even abusive relationships.

6/6, I think what influenced my score is the fact that I'm an artist and I observe and strive to capture the slightest nuances in peoples expressions when drawing them.

6/6 I’ve spent most of my life reading others around me. Very much a people pleaser. People are less likely to leave if you’re that perfect mix of real and pleasing; do just enough to make them like you and be just real enough that they trust you.
I do that less now, but I’ll always been tuned in on peoples emotions

6/6 no behavioural diagnosis of any kind but i grew up in a toxic and abusive family, so learning to read people was a matter of safety, you get good quickly.

Im a 42 yr old AuDHDer. I got all. I will say that I feel those of us who present feminine autistic traits are better at picking up body language. It might just be me, but I do better socially (im so drained from it and get overwhelmed). I learned from watching facial and body patterns to help me figure out what emotions and social situations i was dealing with. I will also note that sarcasm that does not sound uber sarcastic still gets one over me.
