City of Rome in Ruins after Severe Storms: 7-17-24

I’m up here from Texas visiting family in NY, there isn’t supposed to be tornadoes up here!

That tornado touched down about 4 to 5 blocks from my house. We finally got power back earlier today, I'm lucky I wasn't hit since it traveled east rather than west.

100% a tornado!! My mom was in the building as the roof was being torn off and glass breaking.. she also said her ears were hurting from the pressure of the tornado!! I also was on the phone with her as she thought she was going to die, I hear the glass and all!! They also where trapped for a bit with a gas leak.

People, BRACE YOURSELVES for a long haul of frustration with insurance companies and your chosen service/repairs people. Stop reading here if you don't want a long tale...

In light of helping another unfortunate couple like us, I'm sharing just a small part of a long wind - storm damage journey. ALL we've had since 6/15/23 are lies, delays, railroading by formerly reputable-trustworthy in the past & expensive State Farm & State Farm approved repair shop (as well as our dealership of purchase 7/2020) thought to be honest - reputable in past dealings as well Avalon RV, Medina OH for the repairs. Nothing repair shop delays over a year have inflated to 10K more than original estimate from State Farm, State Farm will no longer total the camper due to policy change late last year - another right loss from dealership year of delays. Parts ordered so many times I can’t count them all quoted but not proven as requested from 4 or 5 different service managers, at least 15 return date commitments since 3/2024 to be back by 4/1/24 - 7/10/24, railroaded to turn over the check that State Farm wrote to both of us for some reason on 3/20/24 to order parts - still delayed until may to order - must have looked good on the books for the RCD RV buyout takeover though, more personnel changes causing delays since end of Feb - how is their staffing turn over is our problem - put the new sales on the back burner and ours is priority for god’s sake, it's a YEAR later. They gouged us/State Farm for 10K more than the original estimate 6/2023, as of 7/17/24 text from State Farm. Guessing now we will be dropped because
used State Farm RV insurance twice since 2010 & Avalon is treating it like a blank check - cash cow. Avalon never provided the promised 2023 estimate walkthrough, would not allow trade earlier this year or some kind of loaner, so we could get use of our seasonal site /electric bill monthly, we have to pay for site/elec so we don’t lose it; took a long time to get the site.

I have so much more I’d like to say, but cannot as I am still without a camper over a year later. Trust in anyone or anything to treat you fairly, be Wish we could take legal action, I tried but couldn't locate an lawyer to do this type of claim. All I feel is my hands are tied and nowhere to turn. There will also be vultures everywhere your neighborhoods too for repairs, be careful on that too, there's lot of media coverage in Toledo OH about what you can do to avoid being taken that may help you with your claims.
