Making a 1950s Meatloaf Recipe ⎢ MID-CENTURY RECIPE

I got a hankering for meatloaf and figured it was a wonderful opportunity to try a vintage recipe! Let's make 1950s Hunt's meatloaf!

MEATLOAF
1.5 lb ground beef
1 egg beaten
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 medium onion chopped
1.5 tsp salt
1.5 tsp pepper
1/2 can Hunts Tomato Sauce

BASTE
1/2 can Hunts Tomato Sauce
2 tbsp vinegar
2 tbsp mustard
1 cup water
2 tbsp brown sugar or molasses

Love it! Meatloaf is one of my favorites. We have Hunts in the US but it isn't spicy at all. There may be more variety of flavors I'm just not aware of though so I bet your homemade was tastier.

Side note, are your jeans Freddie's of Pinewood? I've been looking into purchasing a pair or two but shipping has me hesitant. Would you recommend them?

I'll wrap my meatloaf in tin foil, then for the last 15-20 mins, I remove the foil and baste with ketchup. My mom would add a hardboiled egg to the center of the meatloaf, it sounds weird but taste good!

It was actually the right call to make your own tomato sauce--Hunt's canned tomato sauce in the present day is really watery and bland.
