Slate Drake with Lively Legz, Holsinger's Fly Shop

The Slate Drake AKA Isonychia nymph is a large Mayfly species. This pattern is one that a Lively Legz customer tied and they shared on their social media pages. I was asked to tie this for a custom order after one of my customers saw this on the Lively Legz page. Although this fly is very similar to a Scott's Big Nymph, for my style of fishing this is my preferred pattern for an Isonychia. It's a great looking fly and the antron yarn is a lot easier to work with than the turkey feathers. Also I add more weight to this fly compared to Scott's Big Nymph which helps with my sink rate and makes up for the drag that the Lively Legz would make when sinking

Like always, I am putting the material list below with links to the products if you need to order any of the materials. Thanks for watching. -Shawn

Great looking fly, Shawn. You keep tying these lively legs patterns and you'll eventually break my stubbornness! I just haven't been able to give in to using them yet.
