The 2023 Acura Integra now comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT which simulates traditional automatic transmission gear shifts.

Will the average car buyer know the difference?

Meanwhile the ILX that this replaces has an 8spd DCT…

If you're wanting an automatic these CVT's are pretty solid. These compared to the tenth gen civic cvt's are indeed smoother and don't rubber-band like many have been plagued by. You can switch between CVT gear ratio automatic (not simulating gears) for maximum efficiency, or sport mode to hold gear points for quicker getup and go.

Don't like the CVT? Buy the manual option. It's optional.

The 2019 CR-V at work is a pretty solid CVT. Props to Honda.

It has 6sp manual transmission which I prefer

The CVT gives you that 45 mpg on the highway and 32 mpg city.

No matter if you hate it or love it, if you intend on adventuring occasionally with your integra, opt for that CVT.

Because overall you can max out at 530 miles highway driving and 390 miles city.

On a 45 Litre tank (11.8 gallon tank)

I used to hate automatic, and especially cvt. Driven manual since 1999, and due to a worsening back issue shifting hurts to the point I just cant deal with it anymore. Nothing like pushing in the clutch and getting a shooting pain in your lower back. I now own a 19 civic coupe ex-t CVT and i dont hate it, like at all. Been 3 years now, and ive put 67, 000 miles on it from 10, 000 miles 😂. Thats how much i enjoy driving this car. 4 years ago i would have puked if i was told to own an automatic.

Good to hear that. I would still stick with the stick, but im probably in the minority. I learned to drive manual on an RSX in high school because I talked my mom into buying one 😸

That is making the CVT POINTLESS! WHY WOULD I WANT TO FEEL GEAR SHIFTING IF THERES NO GEARS!!

The 8spd DCT from the ILX would have been nice, but for a daily driver, I'm good with the CVT, or the M/T, either way, making room in the garage, next to my GSR,

Drove both (they accidentally delivered me a CVT version that i sent back after a couple days) - the manual is still far better, but at 40k for the aspec+tech package that the manual is exclusive to, its a tough pill to swallow, but the rest of the features help make it worth it. Plus, the manual has a limited slip diff, which helps make up for no AWD.

Plus, with what more mundane crossovers cost, this car even at 40k can be a good bet, especially if you plan yo keep it long-term - I can tell this car will hold up better than most new cars. I have averaged as high as 46 mpg on a tank of regular fuel, making it a decent alternative to an EV as well. Premium fuel wakes it up a bit, and it's fun enough to drive every day while still netting mid 30s mpg.

If you're thinking about it, I say give it a shot.

Well then, if I had the money I would’ve gotten both the a-spec w/ tech CVT for daily driving and the Type-S for when I’m feeling like going on a cruise and have some fun, maybe even stop by a car show.

M/T or Bust. Unfortunately the M/T is the highest trim option. There is no point to have petal shifters in a CVT.

Honda has a 10 speed Which is the funniest thing to me

Honda CVT is one of these best transmission I ever driven. I know that CVT lags sometimes I doesn't feel as raw or fun as a regular 6 speed manual but with the right mods it can be fun in a CVT. I've also driven Honda Type R I would have went with that but I couldn't afford it because prices are ridiculous for Type R. No one can shift faster than automatic because I can't.

Why did they make an ILX hatchback and give it an Integra name? This is an epic fail

CVT’s are for people who know nothing about cars. (Or how much a new CVT will cost when I inevitably fails)

Nice car, but definitely never picking a CVT. Only manual is the way to go. Manual Integra for the win.

I'm hoping there is a manual Integra Type S next year.
