This was actually super fun to watch live. That being said, this breakdown is very much appreciated. They seem like they are stretched really thin right now.
Mark was spitting FACTS the whole way, without saying "Get good". Johnathan couldn't stop himself from implying it every time he spoke.

Overall: Very good information was discussed.

On death explosions also tend to punish actual melee more than it does ranged builds more so. When you are ranged its not as much work to wait to loot as it is to run from literally everything you kill in case it might go boom.

I really wish DM and Ghazzy followed up on the killing rares for map completion. It’s not necessarily that killing rares is bad and it’s awesome that we get rewarded for doing it, the issue I’ve seen within the community is the fact we clear 70% of the map, the rares show up and it’s the BACKTRACKING to kill the rares to complete the map. Overall it was a great interview with a lot of information summarized really well by Raxx.

De-leveling gems is necessary if swapping out a piece of gear suddenly lowers your attributes below the requirement for a gem. Especially if you have a 4 or 5 link version and now have to swap it out for a lower tier, less-linked gem.

I've played many PoE1 leagues and although I started off as a Trade player, I'm now exclusively SSF. To me, it's the ultimate experience and the most enjoyable one by far.
My goal was always to beat all pinnacle bosses as a Solo Self-Found while using self-made off-meta builds. I succeeded a couple times, not without struggle.
I hope PoE2 on release will have that type of a challenge.

They can fix the need for higher gems easy. Just make it to where things that react off of each other like gas and fire, have the interaction scale with the lowest gem level so that way in order for that interact to do the most damage you will be looking to use the highest level gems possible

12:30 yeah thats the biggest problem with the poe 2 tier system, that not all mods have the same ammount of tiers, like mana has 12 tiers but some mods only have 8-10 and you would have to keep in mind which mods cap out at what tier.

Regarding that last question, POE 2 already supports the character API, as of last week. Path of Building devs have a working dev branch of PoB with the import. Hopefully they can get it into the public release by Friday, but on the GGG end it's live.

On Death effects should never be no sell you die.
If they exist, they should be debuffs (apply Shock, Freeze, Ignite, Bleed, curses, whatever). Could be a direct explosion or applied to the ground, but if direct explosion it should not be a DoT (because you cannot avoid or work around DoTs other than by not getting hit in the first place, which brings back the behaviour of wait-and-see).
They should be a surprise difficulty-extensions to the fight, presuming anything is still alive to present a danger. If you killed everything you should be able to loot without worry.
