Morning Katie, Great catch and fix on the strawberries :) It might be a fun test on the grow bags or next year, to try 4 ( or even 5 -6) plants per container slightly off set. just to see if the combo would give the same or better yield. A couple of turkey thermometers in the black and white containers, might show any temperature difference . THe elevated plant frames ( home grown ) and grow bags are a great bonus use of greenhouse space. I know you are all ready set up at the farmers market this early morning. With plenty of great eats and flower baskets for your appreciative community. Happy you all had some family time . Never enough of that !!! Did you mention the type of and name of the tomatoes ? With so many more folks growing and canning, that might make for a nice kitchen series by Doug ? :) Everyone loves a great recipe to surprise their taste buds. Has Doug, with all the fire wood cutting ever considered growing mushrooms in the left over 3-4 " upper branches . Yields can often go 3-5 years . Thank you for your continued contributions , love of growing and real life moments on your farm . Every day is something different.

I use those same grow bags from Crop King for my outdoor hydroponic strawberries. I can concur 5 plants per side and I put use drippers just like the tomato bato buckets with 3-4 per grow bag. I use Crop Kings leafy formula with Potasium nitrate added for fruiting, works great.

I have read that some pvc can leach into plant and is not recommended to use rain gutters for nft. I know your channels are food grade but what about the return tubing is that just standard pvc piping. Thanks love your channel.

WOW LOOKS GORGEOUS!! I can’t believe how fast your strawberries are growing!! You sure make it look easy!! (I know different!!! As a newbie, I don’t have all the fancy equipment or a beautiful high tunnel or drip lines or anything like that but I have a passion for growing my own food in my own apartment and I have 25 strawberry crowns that I purchased from a company from PEI and they began pretty great but then the outer edges of the leaves turned brown and they are showing they aren’t real happy and it could be because the feet are staying too wet and as you mentioned strawberries don’t like wet feet I thought if they could be grown in an NFT system then they would enjoy wet feet but I have to admit my NFT system isn’t a true Nutrient film technique, mine is more of a quarter of the pipe is filled with water at all times even though the water is constantly moving and I did that on purpose because if the pump fails at any time the pipes will still have enough water in them to sustain the plants for a little while. That doesn’t sound great for the strawberries so I think I’m going to switch it up and I do have some thin tubing and I could push water through it and I have some slightly smaller tubing that I have these interesting ends that I can put on them to regulate the flow out of each end I may start using that to water the strawberries

Have you ever measured yield-per-plant difference in pruned and not prunes tomato plants?

So how did the strawberries do compared to the ones in the buckets?

Do you think this would work with blue lake bush bean's? Let them hang over the sides, ,, Sure would save the back..

Do you have a video on how those bato buckets work? I was thinking of using cococoir slabs to grow the berries and use aquaponics instead of hydroponics as I run a fish farm. But not much information out there.

Real nice flock of strawberries you have there Katy! But how many of those delicious berries do you just have to bite in half to test for ripening control? lol Going to be interesting to compare the bato buckets to the long logs as growing medium too. Happy Growing! -Bob...
