Should you use a Knitting Machine drill attachment?

It was fun to try but would not recommend. You lose control over tension and quality control. So if speed is your thing...go for it.

I saw the drill laying beside the machine when the video started and I started giggling because I knew turbo mode was about to be engaged. I used a cordless drill to wind my embroidery thread (after I built a jig of course) and my eyes probably dilated from joy the first time I spooled a color onto one of those plastic things for my thread box. I think I might need a knitting machine now...

It gets hot and I had to put Vaseline around the handle so it would run smoothly.

My knitting machine isn’t reliable enough for this, it keeps skipping and dropping stitches really bad, I have to babysit it too much for this to work but I love the idea!!

I hear this is how you melt the plastic parts of your machine by friction.

I’ve done this and it’s not a great idea. The machine is all plastic so it gets worn out and shavings come off. It wore my handle mechanism out until I couldn’t even manually use it anymore. You could tell when you turned it that the parts that were supposed to click and turn together were totally out of sync!

My opinion.
Although it looks like a pretty nice and easy gadget for knitting machines?, my experience tells me by reason, that the frequently use of the motorized element could, and absolutely will worn faster the gears of the crank handle.
Unless the gears of the crank and of the knitting ring be made of a more durable material, like a mild metal!.

I have been wondering about this and thought that it wouldn’t work as well as simply hand cranking. And personally, it kind of takes the fun out of creating. Creating should be done at a nice comfortable pace and be fun. You gain more pride in each movement-I do. It should also allow you ’me’ time, whether you’re making something for yourself or others. Fast paced creating is for bulk items and under time constraints. But to each their own.

May i asking, can i use 4 ply or 5 ply or 6 ply to Sentro? Thanks

So, if people are tempted to do this you have to use at most a 4 v drill. I tried it with a much higher v and melted my handle! My husband took it apart and fixed it for me but beware. Even with a 4 v drill it skips stitches and ruins projects

May I know which Knitting Machine model and brand works so well? Please recommend...

I find it hilarious how many people just watch this 25 second video and decide to do this, despite the many comments warning against it because it can ruin your machine and skip stitches, ruining your project. People are always looking for shortcuts. 😢

i might have to try this!! carpal tunnel has made crocheting a nightmare, so i switched to my sentro, and realized it’s just as bad cranking that for hours on end haha. this would be a livesaver

There's an electric attachment made specifically for this.

It works without melting the handle.

(Guys for anyone who’s planning to buy one of these here’s my review for sentry knitting machine) I got this for a birthday gift it was good at first but kept getting stuck and soon it was barely working it’s almost like it wasn’t going to break because how stuck the handle was 3/10 not worth your money
The Amazon reviews are right this machine is bad I just didn’t know any better until I got it; you can buy it and see for yourself but if you are going to buy it this is just a little review and tip I want you to know ( they give you only 2 yarn balls 🧶 for starters) you should learn how to knit first and then do it because it’s really hard to understand this machine if you don’t know how handknit

But, I like turning the handle 😢
It's like a special connection to the yarn and the machine ❤
