WHAT'S A VIVERA RETAINER? 2024 | How's it different from an Invisalign or essix retainer? Listen up!

When you're done with your orthodontic treatment, you need to protect your new smile with retainers night time for lifetime. So which one do you need?

You may have heard of "Vivera retainers" and those are basically Invisalign's "bulk set" of Invisalign retainers. You get four (4) copies of the retainer instead of just one. It's cheaper to buy the retainers in bulk rather than individually.

If you want just one retainer from Invisalign, it's called an "Invisalign retainer."
If you want to have extra backup copies of retainers, then you'll get Invisalign's "Viveras retainers" pack of retainers where you'll get four.

Finally, you may have heard of essix retainers. That's a generic brand of clear retainer material. Invisalign is a brand name, like Kleenex tissues or Puffs tissues. So, essix retainers are to Invisalign retainers the way that Kleenex is to tissues.

Whatever you end up wearing at the end of your treatment, be sure to wear it night time for lifetime to help protect all that you've worked hard for!

Just got my vivera retainers after finishing my Invisalign treatment, I am worried about them going yellow and horrid after a while and given each is supposed to last a year! I know there are products we can clean them with but even with doing that with my Invisalign they still got horrible after less than 1 week never mind months and months! A bit worried

I have my vivera retainer. The case is, I was wearing for one month my doctor retainer until I got my 4-pack of vivera. So I wore them how my doctor said 22 hours. So I left from home drinking coffee and when I finished my coffee, I forgot my vivera retainer at home, but I have my doctor retainer in my bag so I decided to wear them. When I wore them, they didn't want to fix as vivera does. So it was a little hard. Now I think that vivera crooked my teeth. Because I don't know what happened.

Could you explain the numbers on the Vivera packs below the QR code and UDI? I know (91) is the patient ID number and (13) is the package date, but would like to know (01) and (10) if possible? Hi Dr! Some VERY minor rotation/shifting took place on my central incisor after my bonded retainer was debonded on 2-2 and re-bonded. 4 doctors proposed (re) treatment with regular braces for 6-9 months. Another Doctor (the most experienced one) recommended taking an essix retainer, and using divots & windows to re-torque my 1-1 back into the desire spot. 2 months max. Never heard of this. Why didn't the other 4 propose this?

Hi, Dr. Courtney! Thanks for this video. I haven’t been able to find anyone discussing “Invisalign Retainer” vs. “Vivera Retainer” online. To clarify, are they truly the same material/thickness and everything just Vivera comes in a 4 pack? I have a single Invisalign Retainer and am thinking about getting Vivera to have backups, but was concerned that Vivera would be different in some way. Thanks!

I’ve misplaced my retainers and relocated across the country. So it’s impossible to go to the orthodontist that started my treatment. Fast forward, I’ve found a new orthodontist and they can replace it for me, however how can I ensure that’ll it mirror that ones I had prior?

They were very snug and kept my teeth tight, being I just finished treatment over the summer!
