Yodit Tewolde sits down with Eliza Orlins, a former criminal defense attorney for the legal aid society, who’s running for district attorney in Manhattan, to talk about why she’s running for office and criminal justice reform.

“I have seen exactly how the Manhattan’s district attorney’s office prosecutes cases. How they over prosecute people for low-level offenses, people who are experiencing mental health issues or substance use disorder,” Orlins says. “The platforms on which I’m running are really based on my experience as a public defender.”
