This video is exactly what I searched for. Watching this on my old S8. Thanks. 😁👍

I just replaced my S8 with an S22. The S22 has a fingerprint scanner at the front, smaller bezels and 2 extra cameras. On the other hand the S8 has a higher resolution, a curved screen and back, a heartrate scanner, SD card slot, and headphone socket. I can't help that to me the old S8 feels a bit more premium than the new S22...

The differences are minimal. My S8 still works fine even with a cracked glass. I checked out some new smartphones as potential replacements. Looks to me as if the industry is standing still or even moving backwards in some cases. Specs on new phones aren't better and often even worse than on my "old" S8.

I looked this up because I'm about to switch from the s8 to the s22. You are correct in saying the 22 is better in every way (I've already tested it out quite a bit), but there are a few things about the s8 that I will miss.
1. The curved screen + edge-lighting. Super sleek, looks great, plus the edge-lighting for facedown notification was a really cool feature that I want to see in the future of Samsung phones. Never had an issue of accidentally tapping that extra surface area on the side of the phone.
2. Button layout. The Bixby button I'm glad to see leave, but I've been using the s8 for so long, I like the volume and power buttons on opposite sides, especially since this allows the power button to be higher on the phone, which I find comfortable. Something I'll really have to get used to not having.
3. Hidden home button. Made it super easy to turn the phone on. I could hold it by the bottom, pull it out of my pocket, flip it right side up and turn it on all in one motion. Now I have to push a button. Smh
4. Pull-down settings UI. The s8 pulldown menu, imo, is a lot cleaner. The icons in their bubbles are smaller (but not unreadable) and the brightness adjustment slider takes up less visual space (and the sun icon spins).
5. Notification Light. I keep my phone in silent 24/7. Noise and vibration notifications are super distracting to me, but I do like to know when something is happening through my phone. The notification light did this minimally invasively and even had different colors depending on the notification type. It also stayed on and red while charging, so I could always tell if it was charging properly (I exclusively use wireless chargers) and when it was done right away.

I'm surprised that I was able to find a review that compared this 2 phones.

I still have my S8. I replaced the screen last year and the screen just cracked again. (I think a screen protector is better than a case for this model. The rounded screen costs more to replace.)

I think it's time to upgrade. I know I'm going to miss having an audio jack. It's been very handy for all of my dated electronics. But a new phone that will be supported for 4 years will be worth it. My S8 is starting to run hot more often lately. It also gets pretty warm when charging. It seems to be lagging alot more too.

S22 feels like a downgrade after S8: you can't change screen resolution. All buttons are on the left side, it's very inconvenient to manually turn it off or take a screen shot. I don't feel the difference in speed, performance, software design is almost the same. I seriously don't understand how manufacturers justify the price for micro change over 5 year span. No wow factor at all! Worth the upgrade if your old phone is super slow or dead

"I don't see a reason why anyone should have a Galaxy S8 anymore"
Me: * *watching on my Galaxy S8* * 🙂

That actually made me laugh 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks for this helpful video! My S8 is almost 5 years old now lol. It's still running smoothly but there are a few deals/trade-ins going on and I'm considering upgrading.

Your burn in on the S8 is crazy! What have you been doing with it? Full brightness at all times?
My S8 has barely visible burn in after 5 years of use.

I'm scared I don't want to lose the curved edge that's my favorite part of s8

I just purchased a S22 last Thursday and I'm not a big fan of it. I was forced to buy a new phone. I absolutely love my s8 and wished Samsung would have kept some of the features on new phones.

You don't have screen burn in, you've got a full-blown TATTOO on the S8

I bought myself an S8 for Christmas, when i buy a phone i'm not looking for latest and greatest, so i typically don't spend much on phones, my Axon 7 started to lag a bit too much so i only needed something with a little less lag

I still have a s8, but my s22+ is about to arrive in a few days :) I guess it will be a nice upgrade after 5 years.

Yes S22 is amazing phone. Yes its faster. But my S8 till now is holding its ground with few hiccups. My point in mind is.. shall I pay all this money to buy a phone abit faster than mine. Yes its noticeably faster. (But I mean since mine still ok and within proper speed I need). S22 did upgrade everything compared to S8, But what is new with it. I mean if a device is already doing what you want, whats the point of buying another one that costs alot. While not giving any new feature that completely doesnt exist in your phone. On the contrary they took off headphone jack and SD card slot. (While we can argue if we still need them or not). I was really looking forward for S22. But I didnt preorder since am trying to hold it and wait one more year on hope S23 will offer a new tech not just overpriced upgrades.

Does the S22 have the led light that the S8 had? I used that feature A LOT. Also, when you say it doesn't have a headphone jack, do you mean you can only use wireless headphones so you depend on the battery of them, that is a reaaaally low point.

Here you can trade your S8 for the newest one and the S22 ends up being cheaper than the S21 luckily.
