You need to build a french drain below the wall sow water can collect and re route to both sides. The wall you havw without drain will break apart when it freezes

I mean but it held all the same so not a total fail at all.

We went and looked at twenty acres and about 2/3 of the property was a slope like that and they wanted $150k we just laughed at the guy.

I highly highly suggest you re-build this wall if you were having problems with landslide before. When it comes to moisture, soil, freezing temp, and that angle of a slope. You need a real retaining wall. Something with that height actually probably requires a certified engineer to inspect it. Go to your county offices and they will tell you what codes are being broken here.
