Banana Bread (yield: 1 9in x 5in loaf)

1 c (227g) bananas, very ripe and mashed
1/4 c (57g) buttermilk
2 eggs
1/2 c (100g) vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 c (150g) sugar
1/4 c (53g) brown sugar
1.75 c (245g) AP flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 c (59g) mini chocolate chips

1. Mash very ripe bananas until smooth. In the same bowl with the bananas, whisk together the remaining wet ingredients and the sugars.
2. Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to wet ingredients and stir just until you can't see any streaks of dry flour.
3. Mix in the mini chocolate chips.
4. Pour into a greased 9in x 5in loaf pan and bake at 350F (177C) for 60-70 min or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with wet crumbs and the internal temperature reaches 200-206F (93-97C).

I suggest putting your bananas in the freezer when they are too ripe to eat but aren’t bad yet and using them for banana bread, and using brown sugar. 10/10 best banana bread I’ve ever had.

Yes. Please make a cookbook and call it the art of baking

I love this. My mama taught me that the instructions on every freaking recipe is wrong - and to take it out once there are just a few bits stuck to the toothpick.

Thanks for posting this. And thanks for taking me back to 1974, me as a 9-year-old, learning that recipes aren't always right, but moms almost always are.

_Miss you, love you, Mom. Thanks for teaching me to be the fantabulous baker that I am to this day.._

You know being able to see what different mistakes look like is really helpful for learning, especially as a beginner

We learned this pretty early in Finland due to a home economics class teaching us to cook and bake, through that I also got into my career of baking now

I used to have problems with this before I saw your videos, but the cause wasn’t me but my family who constantly would pester me about not taking the cake out of the oven before the toothpick came clean, and if I ever did they would complain nonstop that the cake was raw and my skills were lacking. Thanks for opening my eyes a long time ago, underrated channel!
