Yes and no. The reason glock is not a single action pistol is that the act of pulling the trigger does not simply release a hammer or striker, rather, it pulls the striker mechanism back, then releases it, effectively creating more than one action per trigger pull. While it cannot cock the striker with a second pull with a re-strike capability (hence the term striker fire as opposed to single or double action), it is not a single action function pistol

You’re wrong. Single action releases hammer or striker. Double action cocks hammer or striker while you’re pulling the trigger. Using your logic a double action only shrouded revolver would be a single action weapon.

With a Glock, you’re pulling back the striker with the trigger to fire the gun. It isn’t cocked back all the way. Therefore, not a single action firearm.

Right on. Single action as the word implies single meaning one, single, pull of the trigger does a single action such as release the hammer or striker.

I'm amazed you had to explain that.

Some reason, single actions usually have better trigger feel for me..

Technically, yes and no glocks are legally classified as double actions since the trigger preforms two actions one cocking the striker spring and releasing it

Gotta love that 1911 hammer strike sound 🤤

People seem to confuse hammer fired pistols with being double action as well for some reason. A double action firearm is one where pulling the trigger cocks and fires the weapon. Doesn't matter if it has a hammer or not.

I would refer to the Glock safe action trigger as a half-cocked single action striker. Other designs, like the Springfield XD have a fully cocked striker. The key feature of single action triggers is the requirement to reset or recock the striker or hammer between shots. As shown, the trigger is inoperable until the slide is racked.

I’m seriously curious why people call us glock fanboys just cause we wanna carry the most reliable pistol ever put together
I got a glock 23 an old one too 12 years I’m not even gonna guess how many cheap Walmart Remington rounds I’ve got through it .. how many time it’s been dropped in the mud... but man the little .40 caliber glock just keeps banging I’m serious I can trust it..

I'm so sick and tired of explaining this to people for the last 4 decades...

There’s a cut away at a local gun shop of a Glock 17 and when you pull the trigger your staging the firing pin back about 4 mm before the seer drops and the firing pin flies forward. It was an old Gen 1 cut away, are they different now?

Your video made me feel like I was the only Glock user that knew what single action meant lol

Glock is not single action the trigger preforms two action, it draws the striker back fully cocking then releases it making it a double action

The definition of double vs single doesn't have to do with trigger reset. It has to do with the firing sequence. IE glock when trigger is pulled it cocks the striker back to put pressure on the spring so when released it can move forward with enough force to fire the round and then releases the striker to fire making 2 actions when the trigger is pulled. The firearm cycles and the process repeats with the same 2 actions being repeated each time the trigger is pulled. With a 1911 the hammer is already cocked prior to the trigger being pulled so pulling the trigger only releases the hammer to fire. Some manufacturers do make more of a traditional double action system in their slide action pistols where the trigger resets itself upon release allowing the 2 stage process to begin again without the slide cycling. I prefer this second strike capability myself but glock to this point has not added this feature. Most rounds that don't go off with a single trigger pull will go off with a second strike to the primer which is why I prefer the second strike capability. I do enjoy your videos but the data on this one may be a smidgen off.

I agree however ATFE classified the Glock as DAO.
