The table pattern can be found on its side upside down or upright. Spotting it takes practise. After a while the table pattern helps not only to solve a new number, but it will tell you where a certain number should be located.

At 3:20 minutes you will see there are two 5's at the bottom row. The middle block at the bottom row has only two places for a 5.
These two 5's will match the 5's in the block above creating another MALLET therefore a 5 must go in the center square of the middle block on top row.
You had two mallets on this example

At 3:20 a third small 5 should have gone between the 2 you placed. Enjoy your lessons very much.

Thanks, very useful as always. I like to try to solve as fast as possible - any suggestions on how to do that? I suppose there is a best order to the various techniques which will over time be best? I remember one of the champion competition solvers would not share any of his personal technique

I see how you drew the table. Can the legs be fatter and be 3 rows thick (side lying table)? Can one leg be one row thick and the other leg be three rows thick? It was seen that the legs were in the top square's bottom row and the bottom square's top row. So therefore, we had similar legs. But what if the little numbers were in the farthest row away from the table top? I understand that the table top is drawn only inside the middle square and doesn't extend beyond the middle square. So then the legs could be different widths when entering the other squares for the legs. So that, if the numbers were in the farthest row away from the table top, the leg would be very "fat".

Please clarify for me?
