Once you have a matching pair in a row, column or block, any other similar numbers of that matching pair n that row, column or block can be removed.

I always thought that I was poor in doing Sudoku since it took me a long time in solving the easy ones. But since I found your tutorials here and started learning from Lesson 1 and progressed to 11, using your techniques each day in solving Sudoku made the tasks fun and manageable! I notice that in tackling the column @2:30 the other number pairs were also underlined. Does this mean that they too are matching pair numbers (with the other pair outside the column and not shown in the example)? This implies that as soon as you start to eliminate any numbers like the 3-9 pair by removing the 9 to leave the 3 @2:47 there is a consequence outside that particular column (because there is another matching pair 3-9 somewhere where you can remove the 3 to leave the 9). This is a subtle point because it is possible to find two missing number in a column or row that may NOT be identified as a matching pair (because there might be a third missing number that could also apply here) so eliminating numbers from pairs that are NOT matching pairs would lead to a false answer. Premise: "This method only works WHEN you have identified the particular numbers as a matching pair and have underlined them" as sometimes possible numbers in a cell can be removed if their other cell possibility is realized.

I must say this is great stuff. Even though I've hobbying sudokus for years this matching pair system was new to me. I mean that matching pair simply rules out other matching pair if the same digit appears. Thank you very much!

Agreed, he explains things where one can understand what he is trying to teach. Before I came across him I was checking out techniques at an other video and I was confused. Also just finished my first puzzle that needed the the double pair technique on the app called puzzle page. Keep up the good work Sudoku Guy : )
