- The design of the Galaxy Watch Ultra stems from the Gear Sport.

it's funny how this orange became the default color for ultra endurance sports watches. Garmin did it with the Fenix, Coros with the Vertix and now Apple as well as Samsung with these smartwatches. The original orange watch, however, was the Omega Seamaster.

To those who don't know, the Samsung Galaxy Ultra is actually a redesign of the Samsung Gear Sport which was released in 2017.

To be fair, Samsung has called their flagship phone the "Ultra" for a while now, so it makes sense the flagship watch is also the Ultra. I think it's actually weird that apple calls their watch the Ultra, since it doesnt really fit the rest of their naming scheme

Since the launch of the Galaxy S20 series in 2020, Samsung has been branding their flagship Galaxy S series phones as "Ultra" models. Apple introduced their "Ultra" watch in 2022 and copied the "Ultra" name. They should have chosen a different name, like "Pro Max, " for their watch.
