Cliff’s classical music side really shows in the track. He was absolutely at the time when he was alive, a more modern day Beethoven with a bass. Even tho he died in sep’ 86’ he still changed music forever and might still be doing so.

Those places where you have a long sequence of sixteenth notes on 10th fret of G string - I think you need to play them at 15th fret of D, because I think Cliff played rapid diads there, incorporating 14th fret of G as well. And using his fingernail as a plectrum with a rapid upstroke/downstrokes motion. (And releasing/deadening the G fret for the last note in that sequence, so that only the high F rings out at the end, not the high A).

There's also a variation on that in the last run through of the riff (not shown here), where Cliff played rapid diads on 15th fret of A + 14th fret of D; that time, he ends with a hammer-on of 15th fret of D whilst the A15 is still ringing out.

Thank you for sharing this. I do have a question. What kind of Wawa pedal did Cliff Burton use and what kind of fuzz or what kind of distortion did he use on his bass guitar as well or was it coming through his amp his guitar amp I was wondering whatwas Cliff Burton set up

Burton was a talented composer of basslines but an extremely mediocre player. Point blank.
