Im currently watching a ton of new booktubers I haven’t seen before because I fell out of booktube. I’m really glad you mentioned the consumerism bcs I have never been able to afford books, and consumerism and sustainability are so important to me. I so glad I found your channel because I want to get back into booktube at some point and it’s nice to see someone with similar ethics towards consuming books :)

I use the library extensively...I do buy more books for my four kids but I am very intentional about what I buy for them and it is for all four to eventually read them. Plus one series my daughter has read over and over and since it has 13 books and it is hard to check those all out so often. I only have about 10 books by myself...and three of those are from my father who has passed, they were either gifts from him and one is a gift I gave him and for some reason it felt right for me to have it while we were cleaning his house.

I really liked the book Ready Player One...I live in the Oklahoma City metro area and not far from where it started in.

Yes! I relate to this video so much. I got caught up in feeling the need to buy physical books and have spent a horrid amount on hardcovers. I thought I was finding good deals but it really adds up when you’re an avid reader plus I always think about how the money could go towards savings or my daughter. I almost never re read books so I realized there’s no need for me to keep building up my collection. I borrow from the library on my kindle oasis and can’t wait to take my daughter to the library when she gets older. I love the idea of experiencing books without constantly buying. I’ve made it my new year resolution - buy ZERO books! :)

Homegoing is such a great book!
I agree with the consumerism on booktube. It used to put me under pressure to also buy books but I've come to a point where I only buy/keep books that I will re-read or want to be able to lend to other people.

Loved hearing your perspective on Booktube Consumerism! While I don’t believe in hating on Booktubers who enjoy the collector aspect of books, it should be said that not everyone has to be that way to fully enjoy/contribute to Booktube and/or books in general.

Reading better is more important than reading more. I've made a decision recently to actually enjoy reading, not make it a race, and not buy any book automatically just because it's popular and I've got FOMO.
