The Vivobarefoot Primus shoe line continues to expand and three of its most popular models include the Primus Lite III, Lite Knit, and Trail Knit FG.

I've gotten a lot of questions about which model to go with for certain contexts. So, as someone who enjoys wearing all of three of these Vivobarefoot Primus shoes, I wanted to put together a quick comparison video.

In this Vivobarefoot Primus Lite III vs Primus Lite Knit vs Primus Trail Knit FG video, I'll cover a variety of topics.

0:00 Primus Showdown
0:20 Best for Lifting?
1:44 Best for Cross-Training?
3:20 Best for Running?
4:33 Best for Daily Wear?
5:32 Sizing Comparison
6:03 Price Differences
6:48 Construction Differences
8:31 Final Remarks

Overall, I think there's a time and place for all of these Vivobarefoot Primus barefoot shoes and I'll rotate them based on what I'm doing.

For a lifting-focused barefoot shoes, I'd suggest opting for the Vivobarefoot Primus Lite III.

For a daily wear and active-focused model, I'd suggest reaching for the Vivobarefoot Primus Lite Knit.

For a shoe that can pretty much do it all, I'd suggest going with the Vivobarefoot Primus Trail Knit FG.

🙌🏽 I'm so thankful for all your reviews as I just started researching barefoot shoes recently. You've helped me narrow down so many shoes!

A few things to note about the Trail Knit FG:

1. The lacing system does not secure your feet in place very well for things like jumping, sprinting, and lateral movements.
2. The extra sole around the edges makes it great for trails, but feels bulky and will make it unnecessarily harder to jump rope for example.
3. There is more material in the sole so it doesn't move with your feet as well as say the inov-8 210.

Grip is great, just wished didn't have so much material on the sides.

You are awesome! I asked this question on your Primus Lite Knit review and never dreamed you would answer with a video! Thanks! Glad I ordered the Primus Lite Knit as it is for daily wear to work, mall, etc.

Damn it, I just ordered the Lite and the Lite Knit to see how they feel, and after watching this video, I wish I'd got the Trail Knit. Thanks for the thorough review, pointed some things out that I'd never considered.

Can't thank you enough for your reviews. They are zero fat on point and especially this one helped me decide for a suitable shoe I was looking for!

I am confused between lite 3 and lite trail. My use will include a mix of weight training, some occasional running, some trail walking, and lot of outdoor walking mostly on road/concrete and using them as my only daily pair. Also live in Chicago so would wear these shoes in winter when winter boots are not needed. Thanks for the help.

Awesome review, I currently have the Primus Trail Knit FG I daily at work. I’ve had them since January. I’m planning to buy one of Vivo’s dresser shoes for my brother’s wedding next year then convert them to my work shoes since they’re a bit more formal for the office, I want to keep my current pair as a gym/casual shoe. I noticed some glue came off of the shoe though, too bad Vivo repairs are UK only. I’m probably just going to get shoe glue to fix it.

Jake....in your dedicated Primus Trail Knit video you recommend going a size down. In this video you seem to say go with your usual size. I'll have to order these shoes online and cannot try them on in person. Any update on the Trail Knit sizing? I have 6 pairs of Xero shoes and wear men's 11 in all of them (Prio Neo, Zelen, Ridgeway Mesh Low, etc) for reference.

And thanks for the fantastic reviews. I became a subscriber. Your videos helped me choose the Prio Neo shoes as my new HIIT shoes. I've burst started with barefoot shoes two months ago.

Thank you for the fantastic video. Learned a ton.

I've had the Primus Asana and wear them every day for all occasions. Fav shoes. Want to buy another pair. Perhaps Primus Lite 3 or Primus Lite All Weather. I have wide feet, and looking to use it for daily use, including work, workout and travel. Any advice?

The primus lite knit Upper RIPS off the sole at the corners where it creases when u walk within a year. Which is why they came out with the new motus strength or whatever. Fair warning to you all.

Thanks for the video! Do you have any experience with the Trail all weather version?
