I have long awaited the release of the Vivobarefoot Primus Lite IV so I was super stoked to get my heads on the All Weather iteration of this model.

As a big fan of the Vivobarefoot Primus Lite III I was most interested to see if the Primus Lite IV All Weather would compare. For context, I primarily wear my Primus Lite IIIs for training and casual wear and I plan to do the same with the Primus Lite IV.

In my Vivobarefoot Primus Lite IV All Weather first impressions video I'll discuss some initial thoughts I have with this shoe, discuss sizing, and my first workout.

4:21 Sizing & Fit Thoughts
6:08 First Workout VO
7:19 Final Thoughts

I'm not going to lie, my first impressions of the Primus Lite IV All Weather are a little lackluster and I hope that changes.

I was hoping for more tweaks with this model to make it a truly different iteration. I appreciate keeping some things the same, but I'm having a tough time justifying the increased price of this shoe.

As I build out my full review, I'm going to push this shoe more in wet climates and keep a close eye on how it continues to break in.

If you have additional questions about this model, drop a comment below or reach out to me via Instagram!

Thank you for making these review videos! I enjoy making informed decisions, especially when it comes to something as pricey as these shoes. To me, your videos have enough information to do just that. Good work 👍

Have you ever considered training in the hydra esc? I ask because I like watching your vids prior to making any decisions regarding vivos. You sold me on the motus strengths. I bought two pairs.(one for casual wear lol) Thank you

Hi Jake, thanks for the review! I had the same experience regarding that unpleasant toe break, and yes socks also kinda helped. But may I ask if you think they have “broken-in” well enough for you that the issue is no longer there? Because I just got it last week and would rather return now than later if this issue is gonna stay. Thanks!

I recently bought the primus lite IIIs all weather (they had it in sale just a few days before launching the IVs, so I got it at 120 i think it was?). And when I look at the photos, they are exactly the same (III AW and IV AW). If I wanted to think wrongly about vivo, I'll say they just put the IIIs they had in stock as the new IVs 😅.

Besides that, I really love the shoes. My last primus lites were the OGs (the 1s), and this version feels muuch more flexible and structured for my feet. It is a little bit warm, yes but I expected that, so no issues there.

"Are the laces staying tied?"

"Yep."

"Okay. Put 'IV' on there and add $5.00 to the sales price."

They already had the Primus Lite III All-Weather, actually. I wonder if they made some changes to the upper's water resistance since I remember one person who bought them saying the III All-Weather wasn't as water-resistant as they were hoping. Realistically, Vivobarefoot is probably trying to balance breathability and water resistance.

Ironically, even though the Archetype 2.0 wasn't as breathable as you'd like, I'm glad less breathable barefoot shoes are out there so I can use them outside in cold weather. I'd rather buy the Tolos than another Vivobarefoot model.

I had these for a couple days (it's around 50 degrees during the days). The first couple days I wore them around the house and couldn't figure out why my feet were so cold. Then I realized, these things don't breath whatsoever. I've never had issues with overly sweaty feet or anything like that, but these shoes made my feet sweat apparently and stay damp (even in smartwool socks). I absolutely loved how these shoes looked but that was about it. The fit was good, but returned them and got the Xero Speed Force II's (had them for about two weeks) and they've been great so far.

Can you go more in depth regarding the different uppers for the water resistant material please. Thank you

Hi jake,

Which is the best budjet gym shoes? Can you recommend one for me ?

Laces on the 3 were useless as they were, AND too short to be double-knotted. If they've kept the same laces, longer is better. I had switch mine out for the laces of a defunct pair of Columbia hiking shoes.

I'll be honest I have no idea who buys Vivobarefoot shoes. You can get similar if not better quality barefoot shoes for half the price from other companies.

I have no friction in these shoes at all. You probably have a size too big. I had to size down because my standard size had some super aggressive toe break.

I dont really love this review... People loved the old version. Remember when merrell broke the trail gloves 4's? Everyone was pissed. Small changes on a borderline perfect shoe will keep customers forever
