GROW THAI BASIL | Quickly from cuttings

If you love herbs, just like I do, they definitely earn the best spot in the garden! When starting out a herb section in the garden, consider growing plants from cuttings and not seeds as this will speed up your garden and you can harvest sooner. Herbs are so versatile, in fact, there are many herbs which you can grow straight out from cuttings. Thai basil is definitely one of them.
Besides Thai basil, rosemary, mint, sweet basil, peppermint, oregano and a few others can all be propagated from cuttings.

So before you rush your way to the plant nursery and grab a dozen pots of herbs, check with other plant moms or in your family gardens to see if you are able to grab some cuttings for your own propagation. You will save some dollars for sure and time as well! If you are able to find sprigs from the grocery store, they will work too!

Are you growing something green today?

Going to try this with the fresh basil I get from pho, but with a twist on your method - I have a 55g fish tank with live plants, soil, and fish, and I will rinse dry and put the basil stem into the fish tank water and see if the nutrients encourage healthy growth. If it works I'll try to update with a response to this comment :D

Hi there. I have a constant problem with rooting the Thai basil. I adopted the changing water every few days as recommended but my basil keep rotting and I don't know why. It has been at least 6 days and no progress, they just become dark from the bottom and later wilt. What am I doing wrong??
I always grow them in water alongside mint which grows perfectly. Do I need to cut off the bottoms first or let them callous? The cuttings look healthy I get them from supermarket or restaurants. Is my water contaminated?? I haven't been using a clear glass jar, is that a problem?? I'm so frustrated that they almost never grow! I would really appreciate your advice, thank you

Is growing it in nutrient water more practical than soil? Soil is intimidating to me haha

My cuttings don't root. They become rotten. I put them on a windowsill for lighting and changed the water every couple days. What else can I do?
