It worked for me. My issue was on the left side of the screen. I used masking tape and the pins where the 69th and 68th(from right to left), if you count the pins from left to right those will be the 12th and the 13th. No flickering after this!! Thanks a lot man, I'm sure this saved me a lot money and weeks without a TV!

THIS WORKED FOR ME ALSO. Like @johndate1776 commented above, my TCL (model 55R615) has two ribbons at the bottom of the screen near the IR sensor. Each ribbon has 80 pins. My flashing was on the left half of my screen, so I taped off pins 12 and 13 on that ribbon with simple black electrical tape. Using a reading magnifier, after about 10 cutting attempts, I got sliver of tape just the right size to cover 2 pins. I reassembled, and the flickering is gone.

This video should win an award for the BEST fix-it video on Youtube!! It is 1) very technical but easy 2) it's free 3) it SAVES the TV from going into the trash, and 4) IT WORKS! Great job. Thank you!

Omg. I couldn't believe it at first but this worked for my TCL55PUS too... Thank you so much sir for sharing your knowledge with us. My issue was with the left side so I had to do it with the other ribbon like what others said.

It was really hard for me to carry this whole TV by myself as a petite girl and I almost cried trying to unmount then remount it back on the wall cause it was so heavy and it was so hard to position it in place without seeing the wall. Not to mention the difficulty of actually unscrewing everything and doing the fix. By the time I got to the taping part I was sooo exhausted and hopeless I just did what I could and prayed to God it would work and thank God it did. Honestly it may sound pathetic but this is one of the hardest things I've done in my life. But I managed to do it thanks to this awesome awesome video and even more awesome uploader. Omg I could cry. 😭😭😭Thank you so much dear Mr uploader. You saved me!!! I hope you get a million more subs and billions more views. ❤️❤️❤️ May you be blessed with everything you need all the days of your life. I am truly grateful sir 🙏🙏🙏

Hey! I just want to thank you for taking the time to make this video. I tried this and it worked like a charm. Finding 12 and 13 was not easy and it was even more difficult to put the tape on. But I'm so glad we live in a time and age where people from different parts of the globe can share their knowledge in this manner. Many prayers and blessings from my side to you! Thank you!

This worked on my nearly 4 year old TCL 55". It started doing the same thing on the right side of the panel yesterday. One thing that's not mentioned is there's A LOT of screws to remove. Best to mark the pins on the ribbon cable with a fine point Sharpie first. This will give you a better idea of the width of tape to cut. I used electrical tape and believe me it's NOT easy. I didn't get it perfect the first try but using the tip of an Exacto blade to slighlty shift the tape left/right I managed to finally get 12 and 13 covered. Thank you very much for the video, you saved me $ and aggravation!

Huge thank you to this Youtuber!!! Saved me a TV purchase! This worked on my TCL 6 Series R613/R617. Seriously, I tried everything else I could find and this was the only thing that finally fixed it. THANK YOU!!

Thank you for sharing the fix. Was the greatest tip to fix the TV flickering issue. I had the same flickering on the right side in Jun-2024 for my HCL Roku TV. Based on the comments, this looks like a wide spread issue for TCL . Fixed with tape like a charm. Used phone camera to put the tap on 12 and 13 pins. Difficult part was removing so many screws on the back of the TV and putting them back.
All my friends think now I am an TV expert. Thanks again. Saved me a lot of trouble and money. Love from Canada.

I just did this fix 20 minutes ago. I fixed a Canadian 55R617 (55 inch series 5 I bought in 2020). The ribbon in question was on the T Con board which is located at the bottom middle of the unit when you get the back off. Same idea, count in from the left on the cable until you hit 12/13 and lay down the tape. Took a few tries to get the position right, but it works!

Alright I managed to fix it for those TVs with only 1 ribbon cable when opening the main plastic compartment.
You HAVE to open the bottom plastic cover to be able to see those 2 ribbon cables because the main plastic cover doesn't show the 2 cables, only one!
Managed to fix it first try using the video shown here. Same method, you have to put tape on Pin 12 and 13 with the black isolation tape that came all over the TV.

I have a Xiaomi Mi Tv 55' 4s

Edit: thanks to the uploader for the tip and actually share it with everyone for free! Without this, people would have bought a new TV. Who says hero's wear capes!! A big thanks to you kind sir

It just started today to do exactly that. I used like the cheapest scotch tape and it worked! Thank you so much

Oh man! You're an absolute legend! Covering pins 67+68 worked on my Mi TV 4X (55). I think it might be pins 12+13 if it's a problem on the right side of the panel and 67+68 if it's the left side. Not sure though, but mine was blinking on the left side. Thank you so very much. You really saved me and all these people a packet of money! God bless you! Keep up the good work.

Big ups my guy! My TV setup was similar to other users with one main picture ribbon that then went to 2 ribbons. The left side was my issue so I followed directions from other commentors. Definitely a precision job but all I can say for others is don't give up! Took several tries but the issue is gone! Thanks again!

Crazy. It works. Very hard counting the pins and getting the tape on. I asked a family member with more delicate hands and they could do it. It absolutely works though. The flickering stopped. Thank you so much.

Wow, thank you so much. Quite possibly the best 4 minute video on YT I have ever seen. I was prepared to purchase a new TV, chalking it up to burn-in or just a cheap TV. A tip for when I was straining my eyes looking for the 12 & 13th pin - I took a 2x picture on my Iphone and then zoomed in when viewing the picture to blow it up, luckily my cable had blue markings every 5-6 pins that i could use as reference and the 12th pin happen to sit right below one of the blue dots. I used standard scotch tape and cut it with sharp kitchen shears. Thank you!

Thanks for the video! Here are a few tips that worked for me.

1. Left side of the tv flickered so had to pull out the opposite ribbon to the one in this video. Then tape pins 68 and 69 (like others have said)
2. Counted the pins by listening to an exacto blade go over each one. Was much easier to count the clicking sound and feel than counting just with eyes.
3. I put blue marker on the tape so I could see the tape better and make sure I covered correct pins.

Really happy I found this video. Now just have to wait and see if the right side fails too. Not a good sign there have been so many people with this problem. TCL👎

Wow, can't believe this worked. I have a TCL 55s423-CA. It's the same fix with the same pins. The only difference is the ribbon cables are at the bottom of the TV instead of in the middle! Thank you so much for the video!

It's worked! 🎉 mine is the left side of the screen, hard to count the pin, but I did it anyways and it worked, if yours is left side just count from left to right pin 12-13 cover both with masking tape, that you so bro 🥳
