Growing up in the neighborhood of Rogers Park in Chicago, Hasidic men with them were everywhere, always. Never did it seem weird when you’re around it your whole life. My parents’ home was across the alley from a synagogue, and we even had the privilege of being neighbors with the nicest Rabbi and his wife. They were happy to be my first source for all Hebrew traditions and courtesies. I miss my hood, and hometown of Chicago so much.

The idea that god would care about a hairstyle is very odd to me. I personally don't believe that kids should wear anything that ties them to a faith they're too young to have fully decided that they want to follow.

There's not alot of Hasdim in Washington State. My 4 yr old son mistook a tour bus of Hasidic men for an Abraham Lincoln convention and was mad upset he missed it. We spent some time explaining things...😂

Prohibits the rounding of the corners of one's head.... Wtf does that even mean? Whose head has corners? Last I checked, skulls looked pretty spherical-ish to me.

In Islam, the interpretation of "not rounding the temples" is applied to your beard, rather than your sideburns. That's why a lot of times you'll see Muslims with a shaven mustache but a fully intact beard. Coincidentally, that's the interpretation a lot of the more strict sects of Christianity (such as the Amish) go with as well.

Kids shouldn't be forced to participate in a religion when they have no way of understanding it. Coming from a Muslim who won't be raising her kids Muslim. Kids are people and deserve to be given the opportunity to make an informed and educated choice.
