Looking back, I should have home schooled my child when I was thinking about it. The education system didn't do her any good because she couldn't fit in.

Children already have unique numbers and you need them to register students at your school. The main issue should be to ensure that home education actually happens. Often families produce children who can’t engage with learning in a community setting because the parents are causing a problem. You need to assess the effectiveness of this so called home education because these parents can’t even teach their children to socialise let alone work towards a combination of GCSE exams.

Every time there is a case like this the main recommendation is that the different authorities, schools, social services, police, medical, should speak to each other. Unfortunately it is never put into practice.

its not that they feel the system doesn't meet there needs. It actually Doesn't

What I worry about is the abuse of children when home schooled. Religion forced on young minds is abuse.

Homeschooling is popular because schools don't teach.
Schools have been turned into Self Esteem Clinics.
Helping kids to assert their ignorance with confidence.

The school system just doesn't suit all kids. One of my own included.

They hate freedom. Educate yourself best way to learn.

Schools have become just another branch of the social services. Also uninspiring teachers who shouldn’t be in the job are a problem. We seem to think anyone can be a teacher and it simply isn’t so. It’s an incredibly difficult job. Not only does one have to be amazing within their own subject but then they have to be able to communicate to a class of individuals and engage with all of the students. Good teaching is incredibly difficult and takes a certain type of person. I think much like the police force takes many unsuitable candidates so does the teaching industry.
It’s often a thankless job. But such an important one.

And the issue isn't even about home education. Whilst home education opened the opportunity for her father and stepmother to have more access to Sara, the real issue is the fact that her father had custody of her. That is undeniably the biggest issue, when she should have been at least put into a foster home to find a family that would truly look after her.

Never mind home schooling. What about the authorities who let the little girl down what lessons are they going to learn? It was all about keeping the peace in the Muslim community they never had the guts to go in and take her out. 😡

While some parents will do an excellent job of home education the risk is that there will be those of a certain ideological or religious bent as well as the hard of thinking who will think that they know what is best when in fact some will be barely literate or numerate(the literacy rate in the UK has been going down for some years as now is life expectancy)so on balance unless there are real reasons(primarily medical)why a child has to be home schooled; and even then distance learning as used during Covid and has been used in Australia for almost a century can be utilised the best thing for all children is to attend a state school especially if they are properly funded and the"old boys club"which has ruled the UK for centuries that is the private school system has been abolished

Home schooling should be well regulated. Too many parents are abusing their kids by teaching them conspiracy theories and hearsay, while they tell them the things everyone else learns is useless.

Adding to the other certainties of life such as death and taxes, we can include how governments will always exploit an incident to increase their hold.

Thank you for speaking out on this and VAT on independent fees. We may end up home educating due to the VAT increase. Home educating is not school at home.

I am not British or in Britain. But it seems to me it is better to change the education system instead of hiding vulnerable pupils from it. It seems so many pupils feel anxiety and stress, surely one can not keep aaccapting more and more pupils being unwell (at bad mental health). It must be an option to take your child out of a bad school. But the main problem seesm to remain even if some do (lots of pupil getting ill when in school as is)?

The government doesn't want to children to be critical thinkers, only obedient workers.

The government’s review of the right to homeschool is a necessary step to ensure all children receive a well-rounded, high-quality education in a safe and supportive environment. While homeschooling can be a valuable alternative for some families, concerns about socialization, educational quality, and oversight make it essential to have clear standards and regulations in place. This is not an attack on parental choice but rather a move to safeguard children's development and opportunities.

I suspect that, with hashtags like #dailymail and #GBnews, this channel's right-wing perspective is more concerned with government overreach rather than a legitimate concern for children’s well-being.

This is the end of home education. Its nothing to do with safeguarding, it's all about control.
You can also be sure there will be a big fat fee to pay if you wish to home school.
