3 Ways to Help Children Draw Big

Have you ever had a student draw an image so small that they can’t even fit the paint inside when they finish? Chances are, if you teach art to students, you’ve likely struggled with students who draw microscopic images on their paper. But how do you encourage students to begin to draw big enough to fill their paper?

I’m going to share with you three strategies that worked in my classroom to help students to draw large and make use of their entire paper.

Wonderful tips!! I love this. I also teach children to use their hand (flat, fist or fingers) as a 'template' and a measuring tool in order to 'estimate' what type of shapes are big enough or too small before they begin.

Wonderful tips! I am going to try it out tomorrow with my child. When teaching a kindergartner is it a good idea to show completed piece of artwork we are creating and start the lesson or just do along with them ? What do you recommend for a beginner student and beginner art teacher

As always, loved your video! I know many of my students are quite concerned about having their drawing look "just right", and would want an eraser and pencil since they depend on it for revisions. How do you overcome this mindset?
