(Rebuttals Sushi no. 488 - Reviewing the 2022 Annual Meeting - Part 2 of 2) In his talk at the 2022 Annual Meeting, Governing Body Stephen Lett seized the opportunity to remind Jehovah's Witnesses of the "warning" nature of their preaching work.

I studied with Jehovah's witnesses for a year and a half. When we 1st started to study, I made it clear that all I wanted to do was learn about the Bible and get closer to God. In the 1st year, my teacher stuck to that and was very understanding, very loving, and informative. About halfway through my study course, which happened to be the newest one, Enjoy life forever, she started to advise me on what I needed to change to make jehovah happy. It was a little off-putting, but I listened and tried to be a better Christian. After I finished my Bible study course, she started to pressure me into getting baptized. At that point, I was going to the meetings on Sundays, but then she wanted me to start going on Tuesday nights as well even though I told her with my work schedule, that was very difficult. She basically used my love for God against me and said if I really cared, I would make an effort for Jehovah.

This is around the time they switched from trying to inform me about the Bible to expecting things. If I missed a meeting, I was given a guilt trip. I was asked on a daily basis when I planned to start going door-to-door, and then they started pressuring me to leave my long term live in boyfriend that I had been with for 13 years. At 1st, they tried to recruit him too, but he saw right away it was a Cult, and although he did study a bit for my benefit, he saw through them pretty quickly. After he stopped dealing with them, they got more persistent about me leaving him and getting baptized. They tried to convince me that he was bad for me and if he really loved me he would study the truth. I stated numerous times that I wasn't going to leave him, and it was offending me that they just thought I would drop my relationship. Still, they continued. I stopped going to the meetings, and I stopped studying and told them thank you for all the information, but I've had enough.

Now, even though I have told them I'm not interested in coming back, they continue to come to my work and try to guilt me and insinuate that I'm selfish for having all of this information and not preaching the good word. I've been trying to be civil, but at some point, Im obviously going to have to get rude about this. The manipulation tactics with them are extreme. I'm so glad I did not get baptized or continue with my studies.

As a JW I always had in mind the very basis of our message, _Join Us Or Die!_ Understandably, I was never comfortable in the preaching work.

My former religion is a messed-up one right from point of recruitment, to being in it, to being dead in it. Lies, deceits, scams, are the hallmarks of the despicable Cult. Great thanks Lloyd 😊

First it's the promise of a paradise. Later it's believe us or die.

A non-existent judge passing non-existent punishments for non-existent crimes.

If it is a "warning message" why do they sugar coat it or avoid mentioning it? That defeats the purpose of it being a warning message.

For every one of us alive, the only thing certain about life is death and taxes. For the WT, they get to elude the tax part.

The two facial expressions of Stephen Lett - 'man squinting to read the newspaper without his glasses' and 'sudden surprise'.

Mr Lett now and forever will serve as a great source of comic relief for at least one lost soul out here. Since I retired to a small town, about 5 years ago, I've been visited a few times by a delegation of Jehovah's Witnesses. They stood on my porch as I politely listened, respectfully answering their questions as they made their case. Later, after I politely refused their invitation to join, they asked me with some incredulity, why? I gently replied that it was not in my nature to believe something just because someone told me so. Hastening to add that I meant no disrespect to them. They left in a huff.

The top of his face always expresses the appropriate amount of horror for what’s coming out of the bottom of his face.

I'm sorry, I just can't get over that sneaky picture of Stephen Lett in the corner behind Lloyd. It just cracks me up that even though it's blurred out, you can still clearly tell he's making one of his rubber faced animatronic gone wrong expressions 🤣
