Take a quick tour of five of the best and most iconic gypsy jazz songs. In this video I briefly explain what gypsy jazz is and some of the vital elements of this style, pioneered by Django Reinhardt in 1930’s Paris with violinist Stephane Grapelli. If you’re into Latin guitar or acoustic guitar of any kind, exploring gypsy jazz is very much worth your time - the scales, melodies and ornaments played will inform and compliment your playing in any style. Guitar tabs of all the songs are displayed in the video along with the rhythm guitar on the left side of the screen and lead/melody guitar on the right side. All songs are performed at 200bpm.

i've been messing around with learning gypsy jazz for 40 years, have watched many lessons over the years, your videos are some of the best available lessons, i play fingerstyle a lot, but find playing with a pick gives the most accurate sound overall, and yes, i have watched your vids on fingerstyle gypsy jazz playing. very nicely done with easy to understand video to play along with, , thank you !

Last one is so good, always know a melody is 🔥 when you hear it and understand it before you even look at it, and then when you get it under your fingers it leads you to all sorts of cool new ideas.

Excellent lesson for newbies wishing to dabble in gypsy jazz-like myself! Thank you for posting mate. I would have included a sixth song-one of my favorite Django tunes- Minor Swing. Would love to see a lesson in the future. Cheers! 👍👍
