I’m yet to see the video but I want to share my story, i’m turning 18 this June and I don’t use any social media ( except YouTube), I’ve had social media accounts on ig, sc from class 10th to 12th mid, deactivated all of them because I realized that life on internet is not life, it’s more like a show off game, a scrolling loop and a blackhole for time.
I’m SO happy with my minimalism, 2-3 friends and no social media. Why do I want to let the people know what I ate or what I wore duh and why would I watch people making dumb reels and posting their relationship tales, I’m good my way, in nature, in family, in reality and 0 social media.

I like the authenticity of this video. You're super vulnerable and it's awesome. To admit what everyone else denies doing is well deserved props to you, dude. I gave up social media 4 years ago and never had IG. Only fb and snap. And as of 4 years ago, I have nothing. And I LOVE my life without them. I actually won't even date anyone who uses social media because I'm setting myself up to be annoyed. And the editing of pictures... Oh my gosh... I saw that SO MUCH. Like a girl has a round booty... And for some reason, the square window behind her has the exact same curve lol.. So pathetic. I love living my life through my eyes and not a lens.
Awesome video
Ps: I also only have a handful of friends. Smaller circles are much safer.

This is 100% accurate! I deleted social media for a while now and my family and friends thought I was crazy but I knew it would literally free me from exactly what you are saying!
God Bless!

Great video! I’ve been off Instagram for a month and I definitely don’t miss the FOMO that came with it. Ignorance is bliss to be honest. It’s not healthy to know what people are doing 24/7 and stalk/watch them all day everyday. There needs to be some level of mystery. I feel like my life is more low key and private now and people can’t keep tabs on me online.

I quit social media and watching most news outlets about 3 years ago. I realized most things I saw didn't reflect my real life. I don't need anyone else to tell me what is cool, or trendy, or what my opinion should be on certain issues. I determine those things for myself, and that is how I've been able to maintain a level of peace and truly live life. Thanks for sharing, I enjoy your content.

Thanks for the authenticity! Somehow I discovered minimalism late, only 15 months ago, and it’s been so transformative. After gobbling up Cal Newport’s Digital Minimalism & other inspirations I started to drastically reduce my social media consumption. 3 months ago I too took the plunge and deleted all my social media accounts—no regrets. Also, incredibly grateful that my teenager never got into social media in the first place!

I’ve been social media free now for 2 years I think. Not including discord and YouTube. I don’t feel like I’ve missed out on anything… other than memes? Idk. Overall I’ve found I have MUCH more time for the things that matter to me. I also feel better about my body. My screen time went down. /shrug

I stumbled on your YT channel but god do you have great content. Your self awareness 🙌 I totally relate to most of the things you said in the video. I quit social media for 8 months and it has changed my life completely - I felt I enjoyed life more, mental clarity and had less anxiety.

Thank you for sharing this video!! The aspect I love the most is the awareness of how you face real world once you’re off from it. I chase the same minimalist life

Hey man, it's been a long time. I've been struggling with the same things you did and it's nice to know that i'm not alone in this. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I now make it an annual tradition to give up social media for lent. Replacing time scrolling with something more productive is huge, and if you choose to continue to use it, moderation is key. We've all unconsciously become social media addicts lol. Make sure you use it, and it doesn't use you! I've realized as well, to not believe everything you see, much that gets posted isn't an accurate depiction of the full story.

I'm in high school so I don't technically need a phone. But I have one anyway. One day, I decided to lock it up for a couple months and my life improved tremendously! I can't detail everything here but if you are reading this and you're addicted to social media, just put your electronics away for a while. Even if you can't live without your phone, just create time limits. TRUST ME! Your life will CHANGE!

Great sharing, Malik!! I gotta agree the FOMO part is very true. I remembered feeling very left out / down as i scroll through others' insta stories all showing they have awesome social life...but guess what i did to cope with it? Made another acc! Okay but it's done with intent - mutual follows with actual ppl i care about, and i follow more information based acc, and memes. My main acc is just me doing bare minimum of keeping up with the network of connection i've built, in case of needing it in the future for career growth. My experiences with social media apps become better over time as i slowly use those apps as means to get information. Plus its fun observing the comments sections (i think my time in soc med is me 80% reading thru comments..lol).

Few days ago, i permanently deleted my fb and insta and i feel better.
Now im thinking how can i make every moment count with my wife and kid and parents and live meaningfully with them
