I have both the largest iPad and the S9 ultra, both with the most expensive keyboard options and I used them as laptops (S9 in DEX, of course).
Both have their strong points as goes also for the keyboards. At the moment I don't even use my iPad and it's off. I can really recommend it for everyone except Apple sheep.
The wider and larger screen make it more practical.
I also have the TAB S5e and if you want portable this is for you! Wow, the thinnest tablet I ever seen!

Just got the s9 Ultra Tablet. It's great for watching movies... which is why I got it. I replaced a fairly new M2 iPad Pro for it My M2 just wasn't as good 😕. If you want a GREAT screen that you can maybe not take around outside but inside this is a good Tablet for that it's not super complex like a laptop but you can work like one, but mine is for entertainment purposes.

I have the Tab s8 Ultra and just upgraded / traded it to this Tab s9 Ultra. Picked it up yesterday. Haven't opened it yet. The cover should be coming today. Couldn't wait to use it.

this thing is incredible. i just traded in my S8+ for it. after messing around with it, there are so many upgrades and improvements to even count. because of the gen 2 chip, Dex actually is worth using this time, which was pretty much unusable on the S8 due to overheating. it really feels like a legitimate gaming laptop when paired with a keyboard and mouse.

i'm an android enthusiast(i'm subscribed to android authority and xda) and a digital artist who just likes to draw before sleeping. So, I'm thinking of upgrading from tab s6 to this.

About the size:

For me, the Plus tablets are the perfect size. The ~11 inch tablets are just slightly too small to read small text in things like e-textbooks, PDFs, digital comics, etc., without a lot of pinching and zooming.

The 12.4 inch Plus models are just big enough to read that small text without pinching and zooming (hey, I'm getting old), but about the maximum weight that I can cradle in my arms for extended periods of time on the couch (say, for an epic e-book reading session).

Further, the 12.4 inch form factor seems to be the maximum for using swipe input easily. Any larger, and swipe input would get obnoxious.

I've never used the 14+ inch Ultra tablets, but I'm pretty sure that for me, it would be a strictly tabletop device.

My use case is odd, I'll admit. I don't stream Netflix, I don't do much gaming, nor am I an artist in need of a digital sketch pad. I'm mostly reading e-books, browsing social media, light office app use, or watching YouTube. From the reviews I've watched or read, the Ultra is an absolute dream for artists in need of a digital pen and a tablet to draw on.

This is the best tablet on the market, period. It’s even HEAPS better than the ipad pros. Just wish samsung would make a better keyboard case, like apple’s floating keyboard.

I just got mine a couple of days ago and it is fantastic. I mainly intended to use it for viewing comics full page in an easy to read size (Marvel Unlimited looks AMAZING on this screen!) and maybe get back into doing some art that I've sadly neglected over the last couple of decades, but I've already found that I like having it on my desk at work to stream background audio because the speakers are so good and I'm going to give it a shot as my vacation laptop replacement next month too, with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

Probably the biggest disappointment, which I understand because of the limited market size, is the lack of accessories for it. There are a FEW cases and a handful of screen protector options out there, but not a lot. I'd have loved to get even the Samsung book keyboard cover ... but it appears they a) don't sell it in Canada at all and b) it's almost impossible to find even in the US. But it's fine ... I can work around it and have found a couple of accessories I like so far, even if they're not S9 Ultra specific.

My next thing will be to discover some tablet-centric apps. Everything copied over from my S24 Ultra just fine, and that saved a whole lot of initial setup, but the Tab is definitely a do more device. Drawing on it so far has been great, and I appreciate that 6 month trial of Clip Studio that comes with it. Great program.

I think it's a tough package to beat, but as you point out, price and size are going to be limiting factors for a lot of people. For portability, I agree again, the Tab S9 FE is a fantastic option. I just recently set one up at work for a building inspector to take in the field. Great way to capture photos and notes and everything on the go, especially with the S-Pen included.

I use mine for productivity. Word is great but would really like if PowerPoint was full suit as on PC. But not having Windows drama and updates etc to deal with is a huge plus

I replaced an old iPad with this device in January, and I am not disappointed at all! I've been using Galaxy phones since 2013, starting with the Note 3, so I'm happy and comfortable with the Android "ecosystem." The Note series phones and now the S24 Ultra all have the pen, which I make a lot of use of for notes, etc., so the pen with the tablet will be a significant improvement over the old iPad. Yes, it's pricey, but you get what you pay for, in my opinion.
