What's the worst show you've ever seen?

The sad thing is that kids don't need "go-go juice". They have energy to run and jump and play. But the fact that she needed it shows how poor and nutrition deprived her diet was, and that she was so sluggish and fatigued is terrible for anyone but ESPECIALLY a child. Really sad, as I think we all know now.

How Alana still has teeth shocks me, there’s actually a condition called Mountain Dew Mouth that a lot of poor kids have sadly here in Appalachia where they’re missing half their teeth from drinking Mountain Dew

It gets worse. Mama June lost custody of Alana due to her substance abuse and "taste in men", so now her sister Anna(?) has custody of her. She's also dating a 20 year old, at 16. Poor girl didn't have any good role models in her life. She has her sisters, but they're not much older than her and frankly Alana needs someone she can consider a parent.

Always remember guys, no show is truly "unscripted".

On the topic of how reality tv can ruin a persons life, let's talk about Alana.

She's talked about how she's struggled to make friends because everyone who wanted to be her friend just wanted bragging rights. They also come for her because they think she's rich, when that's further from the truth.

And because of the drama in the show, and in her real life, she's retired the Honey Boo Boo name.

She's said that her and Mama June's relationship has been kind of broken. She really wants it to get better, but she doesn't know how time and effort it will take.

Idk what going to happen to Alana in the future, all i hope is that she's ok because she's clearly going through a lot.

I think it should be illegal to put children on any kind of reality show. They can't properly consent to that invasion of privacy, and growing up is already hard enough as it is.

It should also be mentioned that during the height of June’s addiction, Alana’s sister Pumpkin/Lauren had to get emergency custody of her. She’s only five years older than Alana but now has to take on the role of her mother while she already has a young daughter. And even though June is “sober” Pumpkin still has to be the head of the family and have everyone relay on her and she’s admitted it’s a lot for her to handle.

A long time ago, back when reality shows hit it's peak, someone told me that the reason they were so popular is because Americans love watching disaster families or people who are worst-off than they are so they can feel good and not feel guilty over their own faults.
At the time, I didn't understand what that meant but after watching this video and seeing the drama around the movie Turning Red, something in my mind clicked.

People, or rather adults, are so stressed out and repressed that they don't want to hear criticism on their lives so the media grabs the worst kind of people and put them on the TV so audiences can say to themselves: "At least I'm not like these losers."
If they are faced with criticism, they lash out.

The fat shaming and general hatred for Alana was shocking. People were flat out calling her ugly. How can you look at a sweet little kid and call her ugly? I also think June failed Alana when they appeared on an episode of Doctors, just to discuss Alana's weight. Imagine having your weight broadcast to the whole world like that. She never stood a chance.

I looked alana up and she's 16 this year - she's only 3 years younger than me :/ all the articles speak about how she doesn't want to be called her stage name any more but they all do, and she speaks about how she doesnt have friends and is constantly body shamed. its fucked, no kid should had to go through that :(

Fun fact: in the Hispanic dub of the series, they are given voices with pretty thick accents which is uncommon since accents are pretty much non-existent in Hispanic dubs

the part where you said that "while the adults were worrying about bills and coupons, honey boo boo was worried about what does or doesnt count as a doorknob for her fart game" is pretty telling of exactly why this show was wrong on so many levels, she was just a kid and didnt understand what was actually going on, her interests back then were probably toys, farts, and cheeseballs. like it's def not fair to have aired her entire existence onto national television...

In italy, on that hellhole Discovery+ is, we have this abominable show which I can translate as "I'll drag you to the nuns" where outgoing and extroverted women are forced to become submissive and reserved by spending months with some nuns.... basically, every incel/neckbeard fantasy coming true. Truly revolting.
