I am girl and very handy one (live alone) did painting, plaster my walls, put tiles, etc, i got a drill and a tool box. I think i got more tools that most girls but i love doing things on my own, here in NYC contractors rip you off specially when the client is a female. I bought caulking and caulking remover, i got my gun already, i will start my project tomorrow of removing my tub old remover and installing a new one ( wish me luck) so I watched your video and helped me so much.! Love your video, thanks for sharing. Did some baseboard trim this evening, opened the DAP ALEX+ with a push pin, sanded the tip into a V, and went to town. It was wonderful! Just like you said, I didn't even have to "tool" the bead with my finger most of the time. I had just the right amount of caulk, and the V tip smoothed it out as I went along. Only thing was, I seemed to be using up the tube awfully fast. Checked, and found about 5 ounces on the wrong side of the plunger, blown out the bottom!

Now, I saw the other comment above and the reply to make the hole bigger. With a bigger hole, how do I not make a bigger mess? Is the trick to spread it faster? I don't want to go back to my old way of hacking a half inch off the tip and spreading it around with a trowel. Thank you!

You earned my sunscription. Didn't even know about the basic #1 where one would get a dripless gun. Yeah, I am the guy who only cut the fat bastard, thus, explained why my results suck. Do you have a trick to keep the left over from drying up besides using tape to seal the hole? I am probably not the only guy who throws away 90% of remaining silicon due to dried up tip.

Just seeing this after watching your recommendation re: micro tip. I clipped my tip, marked it for point of reference, and began trying to apply caulk. LOL, the tube burst in two different locations, caulk everywhere in my gun. Threw the whole thing out, as the gun was not the dripless variety, so raining now, I'll be back out it again tomorrow after I purchase a new gun, caulk, and wire. Yeeha

I do pest control and we always use the "Phat Bastard" tip! I like to call it finger painting with caulk. You'd be amazed how many crimes can be covered up with caulk!
