Gardening tips and tricks fill YouTube, but which ones are best for you? Gardener Scott discusses how to review and choose gardening advice, offers gardening tips, answers common gardening questions, shares gardening philosophy, and more. (Oct 28, 2024)

⚠️ PLEASE READ THE LIVESTREAM GUIDANCE HERE: ⚠️

⚠️ As I see questions, I’ll do my best to answer in the order they appear. However, if someone gives a "super chat" or “super sticker” with a question, their question becomes a priority and moves to the front of the queue. Channel members will also receive priority.
⚠️ Because I have a limited amount of time, if I miss a super chat question this week, it will be answered at the beginning of my next livestream next week.
⚠️ Your super chat/sticker is a donation that I appreciate very much.
⚠️⚠️ I’m answering YouTube questions to give actionable tips you can use to become a better gardener. While I have many years of gardening experience and training, please understand that every garden is different and my suggestions may not be the best action for your garden. I encourage you get information from other sources too.

On seed violability: I keep seeds in opaque prescription vials, then put them in a paper bag in the bottom of my extra refrigerator. I have had them last for years past the expected date. If they are really old I do a germination test, or start them really early in case I need to restart. (I’m a pharmacist, so no shortage of vials.). I live north of Denver, but relocating back to East Texas in the spring. Completely different gardening practices between the two places. I did the Master Gardeners program in Texas, but the last 19 years in Colorado has been all experimentation.

This topic is so true. My Dad and I have side by side gardens. I watch all the you tubes, he doesn't. I do so much work, he just throws granular fertilizer down. His plants grow fine, mine can suffer. Back to basics, back to Gardener Scott! I am thankful for your wealth of wisdom!

I miss the livestream so i can listen later uninterrupted. Today, i pulled out my early girl tomatoes that were getting terrible powdery mildew bc of cooler socal weather n heavy dew n fog lately (7 mi from coast). Planted 10 yr old peas on one side of trellis n 2024 peas on other side. Tried carrots 4 1st time n will chk in a week 4 germination under tub w water bc no spare wood planks around. Found traces of root knotcnematodes in cherry tomato bed so will b planting mustard seed n french marigolds. Was not aware clover might help n i have red clover seed so i might mix all 3. Thx!

I watch videos from different parts of the country. But I have a number of sights that apply to the low desert which is where I live. I just pick up certain knowledge from people like you! Sometimes its just the timing we need watch

Question on egg shells. Would the egg shells help airrating the soil since they don't break down fast? Would that make it a plus?

I'm on my other computer Gardener Scott, but I've been following you for years. Actually a lot of AI suggestions are false as it aggregates from a bunch of sources with no ability to "think" about whether something is a good source or not. Also Ai "artwork" has been fed artwork and writing and videos from tons of creators without their permissions or compensation. Companies are trying now to replace actual artists and actual writers (ie take their jobs). It's a pretty huge problem. Please look into it further. It can only combine together from things that it stole from. So it be comes like the ouroboros snake that eats itself. If artists and writers cant afford to make their work then there will be nothing to feed the machine.
