In a gripping and intense sequence from the war drama Black Hawk Down, the besieged American soldiers find themselves in a desperate fight for survival as night falls over the war-torn streets of Mogadishu. With the relentless enemy closing in from all sides, the embattled troops rely on the unwavering support of the AH-6J Little Bird helicopter gunships, whose strafing runs and rocket attacks keep the militants at bay. The skilled pilots and gunners work tirelessly throughout the night, their precise strikes and daring maneuvers providing a crucial lifeline to the soldiers on the ground. As dawn breaks, the 10th Mountain Division's relief column finally reaches the exhausted and battered survivors, their arrival heralding a glimmer of hope amidst the chaos. The wounded and fallen are carefully evacuated in the waiting vehicles, their sacrifices forever etched in the hearts and minds of their comrades.

Black Hawk Down is a powerful and unflinching war film that chronicles the true story of the ill-fated U.S. military raid in Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1993. Directed by Ridley Scott, the plot follows a group of elite American soldiers tasked with capturing warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid's top lieutenants. However, when two Black Hawk helicopters are shot down during the operation, the soldiers find themselves trapped in the heart of a hostile city, fighting for their lives against overwhelming odds. As the situation escalates and the casualties mount, the men must rely on their training, courage, and unwavering loyalty to one another to survive the harrowing ordeal. The film is a stark and sobering portrayal of modern warfare, highlighting the bravery and sacrifices of the soldiers on the ground while also grappling with the complex political and moral implications of military intervention. With its intense action sequences, exceptional ensemble cast, and thought-provoking themes, Black Hawk Down serves as a powerful tribute to the men who fought and died in the battle of Mogadishu, and a poignant reminder of the human cost of war.

There's always that one guy who's seen so much combat that he can just casually walk in the middle of a gun fight give you a handshake and tell you were to load up your wounded

01:53 - 02:09 I always liked this small sequence. Dramatic effects aside, the slow-mo aspect underscored the eternity that 5 minutes, waiting for the convoy to arrive, can feel like.

It actually works the opposite way. The IR flasher is used to mark where friendlies are, not where the bad guys are. They would put a couple of those on top of the building they are hiding in, and the gunships will wipe out everything else around them.

I got out of the Army in June of '93. My old unit deployed to Somalia in August. They went in to help rescue those Ranger and Delta troops when they called for all available troops to assist. Two of my buddies were wounded and several of our Humvees were damaged beyond repair in that battle.. Every time I see this movie, I shudder to think that I would have been there, had I re enlisted.

When I graduated from Infantry OSUT at Fot Benning, I got to see this movie at the main post theater. Made me proud to just be awarded my blue Infantry cord. Proud of my 20 years of service.

I got to serve with JSOC during my first deployment to Iraq, and I'll tell you now these Gentleman really are elite man, served with part of the 75th Ranger Regiments that came through, the operating at night only sometimes by Stryker, at time by choppers. I can't believe I got to dawn the combat patch for them, like I can't put into words how great it was.

Air support is wonderful when it works. This is why the US has spent so much time and effort MAKING it work.

My god. Ridley Scott is a good director. He is truly an expert in editing and directing action. Master of his craft.

Ridley Scott and his brilliance in shooting wide angle sequences is remarkable. The detailing in those shots in every frame is a lesson for all young filmmakers.
