This is a very simplistic tutorial. if you have a huge library and you really want a proper catalogue system you need a database programme or at least you need a macro in Excel.
entering data can be a lot more easier with a programme where you have a form field entry system instead of having to go into the date field cells in a spreadsheet as you have done in this tutorial .
using spreadsheets for databases is prone to data corruption and errors that you don't find out until it's too late.

You're right, you CAN do it this way. But most people know this ... and if they were searching for a better method, this won't satisfy.

So I'm going to manually enter the titles, author, ISBN, and page count of a 15, 000 volume e-book collection? I won't actually get to read any of the books until I'm 90 years old at that rate. Give me a program that will read the metadata, find the title in some database, and enter all the details automatically. If there is no program like that, take time out of making your Microsoft Infomercial and invent one. You could make a fortune!

This is ridiculous. I've been trying to find out how to put in titles in excel and build this thing for like 30 minutes and nothing is telling me how to do it! I even took an excel class in college but I can't remember how to do anything. I am ridiculously bad with technology.
