Your Service Dog's Job: No Clowning, Just Control

Two things make a real service dog: doing the job and staying in control. Too many folks throw a vest on their dog and call it a day. But if your dog’s not making life easier, it’s just another pet in a costume.

Watch Mr. Link show how it’s done, start to finish. That’s control.

Thank you! My girl at Walmart just about got attacked by a fake service dog!😤a huge ass German shepherd, the owner wasn’t even holding the leash, he literally had to jump on his dog to catch it before it got to my girl, we were walking into the bathroom at the front so we ran into there and closed the door quickly, one of the scariest interaction we’ve had so far, in my girls career(she’s 5) she has almost been attacked more than 10 times! By fake service dogs, I have unfortunately had to kick SEVERAL dogs to keep them from attacking her, I don’t understand why people can’t just leave their pets at home! But I couldnt ask for a better dog, she trust me completely to handle the situation, she normally is completely unfazed by dogs at all because of how common fakes are in our area

Service dogs are the kings and queens of not being bothered by anything. They at a competition level should be able to endure the wildest of distractions.

Every single dog should be trained!! It's ridiculously how bad some dogs are and people take them out and have no care what they do. Love owners who trained us control their dog. It's for their own safety!!

Thank you for this video! So many times I'm in public with my service dog (Great Dane) and she gets barked at constantly by fake service dogs because she's so big. She's still young and has puppy moments but thankfully never when it counts!

As a service dog handler I completely agree. I trained my 20 month old Cane Corso female to be my service dog. Only issues I have is people, never her. After making complaints to my local bus company we were invited to help teach new drivers about service dogs. We're invited again. Thanks partly to Uncle Garrett's advice. No she's not Thanos but look up Asgaurdian Terrier. She looks like one. They are amazing dogs.

In Switzerland service dogs get trained by specialists and tested thoroughly. Dogs that don't pass the test will be placed as normal companion/family dog. Those that do sometimes get a special tag that goes on the collar for easy recognition. The new owner will also receive education. Only with that tag or official papers a dog will count as service dog and is allowed to accompany someone in places where dogs normally aren't allowed, pay no fee in public transport, don't count towards taxes, etcetc. Hard to fake it here.

Mine is still in training she isn’t there yet but she gets better gradually through repetition and exposure. She’s only seven months old so I’m pretty proud of where she currently is at in her training. For sure areas she can improve on but it’s gradual and comes together slowly not overnight

THANK YIU SO MUCH! I’m a teen service dog (in training) handler and it’s the worst when fake service dogs try and attack mine. It scares me to even go out at times. But have accredited dog trainer like you say this constantly gives me hope for our community.❤

Thank goodness for a well trained service dog. Too many are poorly trained.
