Huawei P20 Pro Long Term Review with over 300+ photos

I have now had the Huawei P20 Pro for nearly 6 weeks and have used it every day as my main device. I have waited patiently before completing this review to make sure I covered off everything I could along with any tips and tricks along the way.

Regardless of any aspects of the technical minutiae, that was a visual treat, Gavin. I watched it on my old laptop, with $11 earphones plugged in.)

In summary,
- Your dogs are a very picture of happiness. It's good to see that.
- The music played was enjoyable: it's interesting how that can affect one's impressions and enjoyment. (I know you are a real audiophile: I am not. But even on my cheap headphones the music sounded great!)
- The interior shots of church and stately home were terrific. It makes this old ex-pat know what he is missing. The colour reproduction seemed to be far more natural and pleasing than some of the outdoor shots (see next comment).
- In my humble opinion (and I have expressed it elsewhere) the colour saturation was often overdone, particularly outdoors. It seemed to be tamed somewhat after the firmware change but that might be attributable in part to different weather conditions.

I congratulate you on some smashing photos. I have enjoyed them a lot!

At first I was think about this review were same as others but this one of the great include beautiful pictures.

What I want to see next generation
1) more memory or sd slot.
2) wide angle lens
3) same 40 mp for all lenses

Nice review Gavin. I must say the cameras pretty good on this phone. You have a good eye for photography. And the music is very good too, particularly the first four compositions.

P20 Pro is a fantastic phone. I don't understand why Huawei Phones get branded to the first sim when setting up the phone for the first time. The P20 I bought from PSC was Three Branded. I have been in touch with Huawei and was told they have to brand the ROM in order to enable Wifi Calling.

Excellent review Gavin, thank you. May I ask please though, with these photos did you play around with the settings in Pro mode, or did you just 'point and shoot'. Either way the results are remarkable, but particularly if your answer is the latter! :)

Hi Gavin, very interesting review. You are addressing featuress I had not yet discovered. I have a few questions you might be able to answer:
- What type of glass are the back and front made of? Gorilla Glass 5?
- Which of the two is more oleophobic: the glass or the screen protector that is on there?
- In your series of pictures I saw a picture that was B&W with on colour popping out? How did you create this effect?

You take a really good picture. I have to say it is seriously impressive that a phone can take such amazing quality pictures. I have the p20, not the pro but that also takes some amazing pictures. I would love the pro but it's a bit out of my price.
Can I ask how do you get the smooth water look. I love the texture it gives the water but I don't know how you do it.

Great video Gavin. I am really pleased with my P20 Pro. Are you planning to do an update video when the next firmware drops showing the difference in the camera? I am currently on 110(c782) which I think is the latest?

Amazingly detailed, and interesting to hear about the firmware update! Really enjoyed the video and this might be my new phone now, the Note 9 is sounding boring :)
Great photos, especially like the slow flow on a couple of the river shots - did you just slow the shutter speed?
Also missing the marker for the firmware change... what time does it show up at please?
