A new study suggests that the infamous "alien megastructure" star — called KIC 8462852, or Tabby’s star, may have destroyed a planet in the recent past. Turns out, the star's odd behavior probably has nothing to do with aliens — and the scientists who led the study have a testable hypothesis to prove it.

You do know that since a suns light is so bright it curves around objects, and as a result the shadows cast are much smaller than that of the object, signifying that the "debris" would have to be massive in its ratio to its sun to cast such obvious shadows, right??

it's not a megastructure, it's just a ton of regular sized structures. either that or space whales.

Of course they have to explain the alien object as just a natural occurrence, just like how for dozens of years eye-witness accounts, pictures and videos HAD to be EXPLAINED as being natural phenomenon and not something like aliens, because people still HAVE TO believe that we are alone in the Universe.
