At 14 years old I used to be absolutely obsessed with Beethoven and I would play his music all day every day, before school, on my way to school and after school. Now 14 years later, I still get tears in my eyes upon hearing this.

With all the pocket money I had saved, I bought all of Beethoven's symphonies compiled in a 6-cassette boxset. I was 15 or 16 then. I bought them from Zistkhavar Commercial Building in Mashhad, Iran. I still have the cassettes and even listen to them on my old cassette player to get some of that old feel. When I first started reading Shakespeare's plays, I listened to Beethoven's symphonies. Now when I listen to Beethoven's symphonies, I am reminded of Shakespearean plays. I love it!

Beethoven's classical pieces are a prior significance in our society. His classical pieces create a rhythmic harmony to the soul.

When the 9th symphony premiered, Beethoven conducted the orchestra. By that time he was completely deaf. He kept time by by watching the players. At the end of the symphony, he thought it was a failure.He had to be turned around to face the audience. He didn't the thunderous applause of the standing ovation.

Herbert Blomstedt, although reasonably well-known, deserves to be included among those at the very highest level of the pantheon of great conductors. His performances are always outstanding; and some of them are the best that have ever been recorded.
