What happened to the RB26DETT and 2JZ - GTE

From watching the video, I don't know what criteria was considered when declaring an engine "one of the best". I got the feeling how long it was manufactured was a huge factor. There is a lot of good, and bad, that can be said about the VW aircooled 4, for instance. Chrysler slant 6 is often considered one of the really good ones, and I had one, but so was the Ford in line 6 300 they used in trucks. My Volvo 4 cylinder in a 1971 144 was tough. I sold the car with 300, 000 miles on it, and the engine ran like new.
The straight 8 Packard was also fine machine.

I owned a few cars with the GM small block V8. It’s a great engine. I would add the GM 3800 V6.
