►Chancellor Rishi Sunak is fighting to save his political career, as criticism grows over his family's finances. Last week it emerged that his wife had non-domiciled status in the UK. This was followed by the revelation that Sunak held a United States 'green card' for some of his time in office. Mr Sunak has now referred himself to the Prime Minister's independent advisor on ministerial interests. He insists he's always acted appropriately, but his "overriding concern" is that the public has confidence in his conduct.

You have to ask yourself why a man worth a reputed £200m wants to do a job that pays £70k a year.

No, no, Rishi Sunak is not fighting for his job. Under Boris Johnson every cabinet minister is safe, regardless of any scandal or incompetence....

Would she have "changed that" had this not come to light? of course not and THAT is sufficient to know these people are not part of OUR society. Gallows out.

He had a US green card so was planning to become a permanent US resident & his wife had non dom status as she planned to return to live in India in the future. This is not a family that has any real loyalty to the UK & its people, Sunak had no business being in government.

He’s just out to further his own fortune. And people criticising his wife for avoiding tax while we all choose between heating and eating is not a “personal attack”. It’s a legitimate criticism.

I paid my Tax and NI for 40 years, then 4 years ago I became disabled and am now on benefits to survive. Strangely enough, my wife's poultry earnings affects my benefit as we are classed as a couple, yet politicians don't have to declare what earnings their partners are raking in.

Lets have an enquiry into Infosys UK government contracts and the scandelous missing and written off £8.7 billion spent on the “VIP fast track” PPE contracts. Utter corruption.

Clearly Mrs Sunak's overseas investments were not in India but in a tax haven, hence the need to START paying tax on them in the UK voluntarily.... Disgusting.

At the last budget he stood and said "families claiming working tax credit will ve a whole £1000 a year better off".A drop in the ocean to someone like him.makes me sick to my stomach.

Sunak's annual tax dodging is far more than the average worker EARNS before tax in their entire working life!

If the few wealthier people paid their taxes without looking for legal loopholes not to pay it, or pay less of it, then perhaps “everyone” in this country wouldn’t have been hit with the NI rise.

20 Million of taxes were avoided. Enough to pay for 800 nurses for a year.
