Cob is good for south wall and straw clay for north

Love progress you have been making. I'm going to be doing a rammed earth structure soon. I'm about 60 days away from knowing the strength of my final 4 mixes.

GO NATURAL BUILDING!!

GREAT JOB!!

I will start to build a house. Cob or straw.

My question is that if I can combine straw bales walls with 10-20 cm cob interior insulation / 5-10 cm cob exterior insulation

Thank you very much

Agree with others: love the progress you've made. Question though, could you please do a video on each of the 3 types and acceptance with building codes? Which ones have the hardest time to get approved and which have less, etc.. and what strategies are needed to ensure approval. Thanks!!!!

Thank you. I understand that to much thermal mass is not helping keeping heat out of the house
because the thermal mass will take on to much heat if the hot wheather continues for weeks.
I understand that it would be better to have highly isolated walls and make some of the interrior
inside walls between the rooms in cob, only;. What do you think ?

I love your style of building. My building designs are more modern materials with some old methods and cheap materials that I believe will last the longest while holding up to building code in the states. My designs incorporate metal roof
R50 blown in cellulose insulation on ceiling. Timber framed structure. R30 walls blown cellulose and concrete slab with wooden floors. Attached garage workshop area with shared concrete wall. Wood stove in garage with door near stove for circulating hot air into house during winter when needed. Mini split for ac and heating for normal cycles.

Thanks for the instruction. what would be your advice for a non-insulated garage that already has a basic exterior structure (e.g. frames and siding but not insulation)? the space is limited so we hope to make the wall as thin as possible while being energy efficient.

Straw have thermal mass too (even if the speed of movement is much lower compared to cob) and it's easy to have lot of thermal mass in the finish apply on.
I read somewhere that it would only take the equivalent of a ton of thermal mass per m² (that less would be insufficient and that much more would be useless)
I think that the calculation is more to do overall with the other construction choices, the climate, the means of heating, if you live permanently there, or sometimes absent for several days/weeks.

Can you combine these two methods, for example, cob on the inside, straw on the outside?

Which is cheaper and easier to build?

Which do you like best, and what is your reasoning for it?

Thx

Sir. I am watching your videos from long time. And I am enjoying alot. My question Is, Can we built 9" ( Inches ) cob house walls ?

Thanks for the video.
Ideally, you want the best of both worlds: a high thermal mass inside and high insulation on the outside.

How does thermal mass fare in hot weather/ humid climates? Also do you go over dustcrete as well?

Are there any issues with bugs or rodents getting into the straw clay? And how do you finish the straw clay? Thank you.

Se pueden usar los dos metodos, masa termica, e insulacion, en un horno de ladrillo? ( fire brick) gracias.

Both don't lose the same energy as the shotty roof. What is the purpose of these sheds?
