Ahoj! 🙂
In Serbian language we have double form of present tense of verb to be - long and short form.
Ja jesam / ( ja ) sam
Ti jesi /( ti ) si
On, ona, ono jeste /... ( je )
Mi jesmo /( mi ) smo
Vi jeste /( vi ) ste
Oni, one, ona jesu /... ( su ) .
Long forms we mostly use when we emphasize something, but short forms are much common.

So, "oni" is used when there are masculines among "them" and "ony" when there are not. What if we don't know "their" gender, we use "oni"? Is this often mistaken or it isn't a big deal?
